How to Investigate
Bullying
Complaints in the
Office?
Pay attention to any patterns of harmful
behaviour; if someone keeps making
disparaging comments and directing
criticism instead of offering constructive
advice, these are all signs bullying may
be taking place.
Know the signs of bullying
Having dedicated policies and bullying
awareness programs in place can go a
long way in strengthening worker-
employer relationships.
Create a safe environment for
employees to come forward
with their concerns
As part of any effective bullying
prevention strategy, it is essential to
have a plan in place for how to
approach and investigate bullying
accusations, as well as how disciplinary
action will be taken in cases where
bullying is determined to be taking
place.
Be prepared to take action
By understanding the full context of
bullying situations, individuals can think
outside of their biases and come up with
a resolution that everyone involved can
be satisfied with.
Keep an open mind
While bullying can be difficult to
confront, remember that it is possible to
do so without disregarding the feelings
or efforts of those who are part of the
conversation. Respectful communication
and collaboration among all
stakeholders lead to practical solutions
and success in bullying resolution.
