Cctv system in schools
1. CCTV SYSTEM
CCTV (closed-circuit television) is a TV system in which signals are not publicly distributed but are
monitored, primarily for surveillance and security purposes. CCTV relies on strategic placement of
cameras and private observation of the camera's input on monitors.
CCTV in Education Institutions
Security, theft and student/teacher personal safety are an increasing priority for Principals. There has
been a general decline in respect for public assets. Over the last 10 years or so.
Where once it might have been the norm to allow visitors onto school and university grounds, this now
poses a potential threat for students, teachers and material assets.
The use of CCTV in educational institutions can be broken down into two broad categories.
Personal safety of students, teachers and other stakeholders.
Protection of building infrastructure assets and learning tools i.e. computer equipment.
Specifically, issues such as graffiti, vandalism, anti-social behavior and unwanted visitors need to be
addressed by all education establishments. With the ever increasing cost of new technologies in schools,
the risk of burglary, arson and vandalism needs to be given the appropriate consideration.
Bullying is a major problem in many schools; CCTV is being used as a tool to reduce this issue by placing
cameras at strategic locations, which are known to be hot-spots. When an incident occurs an authorized
user will review the footage and identify the culprit/s.
Drugs are another concern; video evidence of drug dealing can be passed on to the Police.
Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) systems have long been one of the tools used to decrease the risk of
such issues. Traditionally CCTV systems have been costly to implement due to the layout of schools and
universities. Long cable runs from each camera back to a central viewing and recording system are now a
thing of the past.
Inter- Global Technologies Solution Video Surveillance has developed a CCTV/IP video system which
utilizes the facilities’ own IP network, removing the need to install cable runs to a central location. This
reduces installation costs substantially.
Cameras can be recorded locally, near network nodes usually located in each building or at a central
location.
Nominated Users can monitor and playback camera footage from any authorized PC. Our solutions
support a wide choice of CCTV technologies and cabling infrastructure.
2. What do Education Stakeholders say?
“Every weekend and especially on the long weekends we had damage throughout the school. Since Inter-
Global Technologies Solution has been employed we have very minimal vandalism. Inter- Global
Technologies Solution was amazing in organizing the installation and we have no difficulties with the
system.”
IP CCTV in education
Educational institutions are well suited for an IP CCTV surveillance system, because most schools have
an existing computer network infrastructure. This can eliminate the need to lay thick coax cable thus
significantly reducing installation costs. IP based CCTV surveillance systems use a computer network to
transmit video streams. Although more expensive than traditional analogue base systems, IP based
CCTV systems offer higher image resolution which can aid in the actual identification of an individual. IP
systems offer more flexible viewing options
Upgrading to an IP based CCTV system can be done in stages, analogue cameras can be integrated into
a fully digital IP based systems via the use of an encoder or you could start replacing your analogue
cameras with IP cameras that have analogue outputs, then at a later stage you could replace your DVR
with an NVR. Adding an IP camera is like adding an additional Computer to your school, just plug it into
an existing free LAN port. On a traditional analogue system you have to run thick coax every time you
want to add a camera, which is why IP based CCTV are considered more scalable.
3. Bullet Security Cameras | Bullet CCTV Cameras
Bullet security cameras are types of video surveillance cameras thatare typically small and shaped like a rifle
bulletshell or lipstick case.Smaller bulletcameras are typically the diameter ofa cigar, but they are shorter.
Sometimes theyare referred to as lipstick cameras.Bulletcameras can easilymountto ceilings or walls because
mostof them use a tri-axis type of mount. Not all bullet cameras are small.Infrared bulletcameras tend to be larger in
diameter to accommodate the additional space thattheir IR LEDs require. There are several types of bulletcameras
on this page including analog CCTVcameras, AHD cameras, and TVI cameras. The AHD and TVI models are
capable of 1080p HD resolution, butrequire an AHD or TVI compatible surveillance DVR.
If you need a weatherproofbulletcamera for an outdoor surveillance installation,CCTV Camera Pros
recommends thatyou consider one our our infrared bulletcameras which also work well in low light
and zero lightapplications. Our bulletIR cameras can also be used indoors. The BIPRO-540L4
Infrared BulletCamera is one of our bestselling bulletIR cameras

4. Dome Security Cameras | Dome CCTV Cameras
Dome Security Cameras are named for their dome like shape.Dome cameras are commonlyused in surveillance
systems inside ofhomes, casinos, retail stores, and restaurants. This is because dome cameras are more
fashionable and blend in very well to their surroundings.Because oftheir dome shape, itis difficult for someone to tell
which direction the lens ofa Dome Camera is actuallyaiming. When shopping for a Dome Camera, you should
consider ifyou need nightvision, in which case you should look atan infrared dome camera. If the area that you are
installing your camera is susceptible to vandalism or tampering, you should consider installing a vandal dome
camera.A varifocal dome camera gives you the flexibility to adjustthe focal distance ofthe camera lens to exactly
where you need it. CCTV Camera Pros offers combinations ofall of the above mentioned types of Dome Cameras.
