The document contains the daily schedule for a special education classroom for the week of July 14-18, 2014. Weekly Class Schedule and Activities
1. Monday July, 14, 2014
8:00-8:10- Student’s arrive greet them at the car/van/bus
*Unpack bags, read communication books, go to the bathroom take attendance.
8:10-8:50- Individual sensory and self-care skills, as per OT recommendation.
*Give students time to play until all students are finished with morning journal.
Morning meeting- Students will review calendar skills by discussing the day,
month, year, seasons, and weather. Students will review letters and sounds in
their first name then practice tapping out their names, as well as discriminate
between vowels and consonants. Students will also sort pictures or objects
according to category for example food, clothing, animals.
*Note: No therapies today
8:50-9:45- Reading/Vocabulary- “Letter sounds” student will practice reading
words with the same letter to connect the letter and sound. Students will match
the initial consonant sound to the correct picture and practice producing the
sound made by the letters. Students will form a word bank of a list of words that
start with the sound in the word, we will then work on making a sentence with
that word.
9:45-10:00 SNACK
10:00-10:30- Lets go run around on the playground and socialize with our peers.
10:30-11:15- Math- Students will look at the chart on the white board labeling the
name of the coin, and its value on the board. The students sat in a circle, and
were each given replica play money that was similar in size and color to real
money. I will also gave students magnifying glasses so they could observe the
details of the coins. Students will answer questions such as, “which coin is the
smallest in size?” And, “can you tell me which coin says five cents on it?” “Which
coin is called a dime? And what is it worth (what is its value)?” After each coin is
reviewed as a class, the students will return to their seats to work on a worksheet
where they have to on one side identify the name of a coin by its picture, and on
the other side identify the value of coins by their pictures.
11:15-11:45- Students can engage in a game, look at a book, or play a game on
the IPad.
11:45-12:00- Write in communication books, pack up, and use the bathroom.
2. Tuesday, July 15, 2014
8:00-8:10- Student’s arrive greet them at the car/van/bus
*Unpack bags, read communication books, go to the bathroom take attendance.
8:10-8:50- Individual sensory and self-care skills, as per OT recommendation.
*Give students time to play until all students are finished with morning journal.
Morning meeting- Students will review calendar skills by discussing the day,
month, year, seasons, and weather. Math- Students will identify activities that
occur in the morning, afternoon, and evening. Students will have to point to
pictures of day and night time on request and identify activities which occur in the
morning, afternoon, evening.
8:50-9:45- Reading/Lang Arts- Students will match spoken word to pictorial
representation of the word from a field of two to three pictures with a verbal
prompt. Students will then do a worksheet reviewing this concept, and work on
forming beginning consonant sounds.
9:45-10:00- SNACK
10:00-10:30- Station group activity with Lillian and Beth’s class.
10:30-11:00- Students will review the concept of coins by answering questions
from yesterday to test their prior knowledge. Example can you tell me which coin
is biggest in size and can you tell me which coin says a .25 cents on it. Which coin
is a quarter and what is its worth/value?
11:00-11:30- Students may go to the gym or computer lab there is also the option
of looking at a book, engaging in game, playing a game on the Ipad, or working on
individual ABA books for targeted goals and objectives.
11:30 12:00 - Brain Gym with Teresa: Write in communication books, pack up, and
use the bathroom.
3. Wednesday July, 16, 2014
8:00-8:10- Student’s arrive greet them at the car/van/bus
*Unpack bags, read communication books, go to the bathroom take attendance.
8:10-8:50- Individual sensory and self-care skills, as per OT recommendation.
*Give students time to play until all students are finished with morning journal.
Morning meeting- Students will review calendar skills by discussing the day,
month, year, seasons, and weather. *Reading Sight word vocabulary students will
match written words to a pictorial representation or associated sign from a field
of 2 or 3 picture signs depending on the student.
8:50-9:45- Reading/Vocabulary- “Letter sounds” student will practice reading
words with the same letter to connect the letter and sound. Students will match
the initial consonant sound to the correct picture and practice producing the
sound made by the letters. Students will form a word bank of a list of words that
start with the sound in the word, we will then work on making a sentence with
that Review: Again read, listen to, and reread the sentence on sentence strips. For
example the student with point to the word "But," and read it aloud. Ask students
what sound "But" begins with. What letter makes that sound? What other words
begin with the /b/ sound? Record the responses on the chalkboard.
9:45-10:00 SNACK
10:00-10:30- Integrated speech group.
10:30-11:00- Students will have the change to go outside on the playground.
11:00-11:45- Math- Coin Sorting: Students will practice sorting coins, you can give
them practice by sorting coins. I will Place a cup for each denomination, and place
the mixed coins on the table in front of the student. If the student recognizes
numbers, put the coin value on the outside of the cup, or place one of the coins in
the cup.
11:45-12:00- Write in communication books, pack up, and use the bathroom.
4. Thursday July 17, 2014
8:00-8:10- Student’s arrive greet them at the car/van/bus
*Unpack bags, read communication books, go to the bathroom take attendance.
8:10-8:50- Individual sensory and self-care skills, as per OT recommendation.
*Give students time to play until all students are finished with morning journal.
Morning meeting- Students will review calendar skills by discussing the day,
month, year, seasons, and weather. Matching objects to pictures an example of
this would be what goes with shoe? Also students will do the following patterns
with blocks AB,AABB,ABC,.
8:50-9:45- Reading/Lang Arts- Students will be given three objects or pictures and
select the one that is different. Students will sort object by category. Students will
also understand the concept of in front of, in back, and around. Students will also
have to answer questions beginning with whose, who, and how many.
9:45-10:00:- SNACK
10:00-10:30- Station group activity
10:30-11:00- Math Review: Students will match and sort coins using visuals and
actual real coins.
11:00-11:30- Group OT with Dr. Paul
11:30-12:00- Students play a game, look at a book, play a game on the IPad. Then
it’s time to pack up and go home.

8:00-8:10- Student’s arrive greet them at the car/van/bus

10:30-11:00 Review of ADL skills for targeted goals and objectives. Students can
also play educational partner games which are located on the top and lower
shelves in front of the windows.
11:00-11:45- Students have the option to go to the computer lab and play an
educational game on abc.kidzlearning.com or brainpop.com, or read a book and
play an interactive game with a partner.
11:45-12:00- Write in communication books, pack up, and use the bathroom.
