Hello, my name is Laura and I´m a pre-primary teacher from Madrid (Spain), currently
studying a master´s degree in bilingual education. Today I want to explain to you my
experience about the ICT world. My trip begins with a learning diary and a twitter
account.
We were asked for achieving some challenges and we started with the basic tools: a
blog in which we posted everything we were learning and a twitter account in order to
spread our work.
As far as my experience is concerned, it has been very enriching for me because I have
realized that there are many innovative ways to teach our students. Furthermore, we
have had the opportunity to create our own Open Educational Project and to collaborate
with other virtual communities.
I would like to highlight the process through which I have created my educational
project.
First of all, before taking the first approach to my lesson plan, I analysed an Open
Educational Project from the internet in order to see the main characteristics, proposals
and tasks that we can find in this kind of projects.
After that, I created a prototype of the project I wanted to carry out, which is called
“People and the environment”, by filling a template with the most important aspects we
must take into account when planning a lesson: contents, objectives, sessions, activities,
etc.
Once I had the idea in my mind, I took the next step, which was enriching my project. I
decided to make it more social and include three different ways of collaboration:
 Within the classroom through cooperative learning because students, in groups,
will have to do a research and create a presentation.
 Collaboration out of the classroom connecting with other classes or
communities and share opinions through a leaning diary.
 back to the classroom, taking into account external agents in order to provide a
meaningful and real learning.
Then, I wanted to be part of other collaborative projects and I decided to join The 30
Goals Challenge, by Shelly Sánchez Terrell, since they encourage a movement to
transform the way of teaching, in which ICT and innovative methods are very
important. Moreover, I wanted to focus my sessions on “blog and reflect” challenge.
Next, as I was involved in enriching my Educational Project, I also decided to enrich the
activities by turning them into super learning missions, for students to be motivated and
interested in learning.
The first super learning mission is called "blogging my knowledge!”, in which students
have to do a research of the topic by groups, and then, they have to post the explanation
in their learning diaries. With this super mission, students will collaborate within the
classroom, in small groups.
The second super learning mission is called "becoming teachers!", in which students use
a new tool called Genial.ly for preparing a wonderful and interactive presentation for
the rest of the class. With this activity, we are not going to work only on collaboration
within the classroom but also outside the classroom, through recording a video and
posting it in their learning diaries.
Finally, as in every lesson plan, we have to assess our students and for that we have to
create an assessment rubric, which is very useful, not only for us, but for parents and
students to see what is going to be evaluated. For doing so, I took into account the main
aspects of the learning process: writing and oral skills, content, visual support, group
work and critical thinking. Then I defined clearly the criteria of each specific aspect,
including a scale of ratings.
Thank you
