Technology deployment services provider celebrates 20 years in business by
supporting the expanding National Student Technician Competition
Riverside, Mo. – May 27, 2015 – Velociti Inc., a global provider of technology
deployment services, today announced it will be the exclusive event sponsor of
the National Student Technician Competition, TMCFutureTech 2015. The event,
designed to promote career opportunities as heavy-truck technicians, will be held in
conjunction with the National Technician Skills Competition —TMCSuperTech 2015
— held by American Trucking Associations’ Technology & Maintenance Council
during its Fall Meeting, Sept. 21-24, in Orlando, Fla.
“While the ongoing driver shortage gets a lot of well-deserved attention, the shortage
of technicians at fleets is often overlooked,” said Deryk Powell, president of Velociti.
“The shortage is further compounded by the need for staff that is trained to maintain
and repair more complex vehicle systems. As part of the trucking industry, and for
our business as well, it’s important that we do everything possible to help fleets
address this challenge. Sponsoring TMC FutureTech 2015 is our way of supporting
the effort to attract new technicians and the perfect way to celebrate our 20th
anniversary serving fleet customers.”
TMCFutureTech 2015 consists of a set of skill stations for technician students that
takes place at the same time as TMCSuperTech 2015 for professional technicians.
This year, the student competition will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 22. Winners will be
announced the next day at the TMCSuperTech 2015 Awards Luncheon. Registration
for TMCFutureTech 2015, for a fee of $200, is limited to 80 individuals. The
registration deadline is August 21, 2015.
Velociti will present a starter toolbox to the top three student winners at the
TMCSuperTech 2015 Awards Luncheon and present electric training boards to the
schools of the top three winners during the TMC Annual Meeting in March.
“For the first time last year, TMC held a technicians competition for students and we
are happy that Velociti is stepping up and helping us expand this important
program,” said Carl Kirk, ATA vice president of maintenance, information technology
& logistics and TMC executive director. “Expanding our existing TMC SuperTech
competition to students is a tremendous way to highlight the importance of recruiting
young people into our industry and recognizing their efforts.
