  5. 5. The Zoola Information Hierarchy 5 Data Connections Data Sources Ad Hoc Views Reports Dashboards A metadata layer that provides a clean view of the database. A Data Source allows you to control access to the data based on security permissions.
  6. 6. The Zoola Information Hierarchy 6 Data Connections Data Sources Ad Hoc Views Reports Dashboards An Ad Hoc view is used to explore, analyze, and visualize the data provided by the Data Source. Ad Hoc Views are used to create Reports and Dashboards.
  7. 7. The Zoola Information Hierarchy 7 Data Connections Data Sources Ad Hoc Views Reports Dashboards Reports are finalized versions of Ad Hoc Views intended for presentation and analysis purposes, allowing stakeholders to interact with data and export the final result.

  9. 9. Filters 9 Filters are used in reporting, analysis, and planning to restrict data. Filters are graphical widgets that Zoola displays with the report and dashboard. Filters perform the following functions: ● Prompt the user for input ● Validate the format of the input ● Pass the input to the report Three Types: ● Filters (added to Data Sources and Ad Hoc Views) ● Input Controls (similar to Filters, but introduced at Reports to customize filters) ● Parameters (similar to Filters, but introduced at Dashboard for enhanced data interaction)
  10. 10. A filter on one or more columns reduces data that is not needed or wanted in reports based on the Data Source. Putting often-used filters in the Data Source design avoids the need for each user to define filters independently and also reduces the chance for errors. Data Source Pre-Filters 10 Advanced ● Data Security
  11. 11. Ad Hoc View Filters 11 Advanced ● Pre-Filters ● Custom Filter Expression Ad Hoc View Filters allow the user to interact with the data to narrow their view.
  12. 12. Report Filters 12 Report Filters allow the user to interact with the data to narrow their view. Advanced ● Using Input Controls ● Create your own Input Control
  13. 13. Dashboard Filters 13 Dashboard Filters allow the user to interact with the data to narrow their view. When you add a report that has filters to a dashboard, the filters don’t appear on the dashboard until you explicitly add them, one-by-one. Advanced ● Hyperlinks ● Create your own Input Control
