1. A$AP Ferg ft. A$AP Rocky - SHABBA
This video is by a artist called “A$AP Ferg” the song relating to the visual is called “SHABBA” I will
be doing an analysis of the video. I will be analysing various aspect of the visual commence in
reading the presentation to find out.

2. Genre
This video is evidently a visual from a Hip-Hop/Rap song, this is evident
because movement in the visual is more of a erratic, I can suggest this
because the cameras main focus is the artists we can see their movements
hand gestures etc. Also features such as costume give the Rap/Hip-Hop feel,
branded and designer garments, sports, and designer vintage garments you'd
see the most notable historical rappers wearing previously dress the artists in
a new age trendy manor which is relative to Rap and Hip-Hop.

3. Setting and Decor
In this visual we have very few settings, a mansion with several rooms one of
which is a bedroom/bathroom, this bedroom/bathroom is kitted with vintage
features and furnishings, wall features and sofas.
Here we have the second setting, again kitted with vintage décor, emphasising
the vintage feel to the visual. As I will go on to say later, this portrays A$AP
Fergs star image, he is know for the manor he dresses (Vintage Versace,
Coogi etc)

4. Costume
In this visual, there is only one particular costume that implies something. This is “Ian Connor” who is
doing a cameo for the video the director has done this to portray the great dancehall star “Shabba Ranks”
hence the name of the track. He is dressed in vintage silk shirt, canvas trousers and loafers accessorised
with gold chains. We then have costumes that don’t imply anything at all, but they abide by the ideology of
the artist, we have ASAP FERG in his usual street wear “HBA” (HOODBYAIR) AND ASAP FERG in his
vintage wear (Versace), this again exemplifies their star images as this is what we as a audience have
become use to them wearing these particular clothes.
We also have each person wearing a lot of gold this is relative to the lyrics of the tracks. The artists
costume compliment the genre because they're very hip and trendy, and are clothes you see most
rappers wearing today, which also implies that they're in fact rappers. As I've said I think the director has
chosen their costumes because it compliments their star images and the rappers the audience perceive
them to be.

5. Props
We have several props in this visual, the first
prop I have here is of a stuffed bird, this again is
a piece of décor used in the visual and this
specific piece of furnishing again exemplifies
and emphasis’ the vintage aspect of the visual,
and the vintage liking and for the lack of a better
term vintage tenancy's in most things he does of
the star ASAP FERG.
Next prop we have is of a sports car, again this has the
vintage element but it also stress’ that fact that the track
is rap/hip-hop because it is common that you have rich,
sporty cars in your music videos if you're a rap artist.

6. Body Language and Movement
The movement in this video energetic a majority of the time the artists are dancing or partying with
their accomplices. In some cases the bod language is slightly slouched, this implies the cool image
of the artist, but then again it is also upright and bouncy again exemplifying the upbeat track.. As a
audience this connotes to use that they're having fun and messing around, “Living the dream”. I
feel the director has chosen this simply because it complement the rhythm and beat of the actual
song it also creates a optimistic emotion to the visual, also to those who follow these artists,
through their star images, they can relate as they can mimic what they're doing and the way they
act as they “Live the dream” also. Also we have cameo girls in the video their body language and
movement is sexy and seductive, this connotes to us as an audience the rappers life style.

7. Performance
The artists are very important in the video, because they provide the visual
with or detail, without them performing and lip syncing the video would only
be a track running. This has no concept, but paired with the visual, setting,
concepts, narrative, costume and props we have a detail visual in which
illustrates a picture of the track.

8. Narrative
In this visual their wasn’t necessarily a narrative, but their was a key person
that this visual was trying to represent. The track is called “Shabba” and in
this track ASAP FERG is trying to represent the great dancehall star
“shabba ranks” he does this on the track through tracks and visual. through
the track, the chorus is dedicated to him “sha sha shabba ranks eight gold
chains like I'm sha shabba ranks”. Through the visual he is presented
through many features, firstly the girls, shabba ranks was know for getting
women even making a song called ”Mr Lover Man” ASAP Ferg and the
director depicted shabba ranks nature by including girls, also through
costume the director illustrated shabba ranks’ nature kitted each artist out
with gold jewellery and accessories, and also dressing “Ian Connor” in
clothes shabba himself would have worn.
