The Ministry of Education has revised the G.C.E.(A.L.) Business Studies Syllabus incorporating 20 periods of Logistics. The students sitting for A.L Examination in 2019 will have to answer questions in Logistics. This is the first success towards taking “Logistics” as an optional subject in the school curriculum. CINEC as the pioneers in Logistics education took untiring efforts in this process. We have been working on a strategic plan during past few years.

1. Logistics is in School curriculum
The Ministry of Education has revised the G.C.E.(A.L.) Business Studies Syllabus
incorporating 20 periods of Logistics. The students sitting for A.L Examination in
2019 will have to answer questions in Logistics. This is the first success towards
taking “Logistics” as an optional subject in the school curriculum.
CINEC as the pioneers in Logistics education took untiring efforts in this process.
We have been working on a strategic plan during past few years.
I quote from the speech of Capt. Ajith Peiris, President CINEC in the CINEC Logistics
day 2017 welcoming the Navy commander.

“CINEC has a dream to establish Logistics as a subject in the secondary level school
curriculum. CINEC is the first private higher education institute to teach Logistics
and Transport in Sri Lanka. Apart from the commercial objectives CINEC always
consider promoting this vital subject as a social responsibility”.

CINEC tackled the matter though many innovative approaches. They lead
undergraduate students get connected with schools by conducting the annual
Logistics quiz competition for school children from 2016. This was done with the
approval of Ministry of Education and managed to create an insight about logistics
with the ministry officials. In 2016 we had 17 school teams and then increased to
27 teams in 2017. This approach also helped us attract more female students for
Logistics.
Our dream of taking logistics as an optional subject in the school will not be a dream
for long.
