2. OPHTHALMOLOGY: STUDY OF THE EYE
Fact:
The eye
ball is
an
organ.
The
basic
function
of the
eye is to

3. THERE ARE THREE
LAYERS OF THE
EYEBALL.
• 1. Sclera: The outer layer
which acts as a protective
coat, in front of cornea,
“white of the eye.
• 2. Choroid: Middle layer;
contains blood supply
and nutrients. This layer
includes the: iris, pupil,
and ciliary body.
• 3. Retina: Inner most
layer; contains sensory
receptors. Images are
focused here through the
optic nerves to the brain,
resulting in the sight.
4. OTOLOGY:
STUDY OF
THE EAR
The major functions of the ear is to enable
hearing and balance, or equilibrium.
Did you know?
Sound travels through THREE parts of the ear:
outer, middle, and inner. The sound waves
travels inside the ear, and the vibrations against
the hairs trigger a nerve impulse to the brain.
5. • The outer ear acts as a
funnel. It collects the
sound waves, and the ear
wax acts as a protectant.
• The middle ear is in the
temporal bone of the
skull; vibrations of sound
are transmitted here.
• The inner ear contain
sensory receptors for
hearing and equilibrium.
