Broadband experience
everywhere anytime
• Users we require unlimited access to information and
services, anywhere and anytime
• Video down- and upload drives traffic volumes and
the peak bit rates demand.
• The challenge in a 5G network is to create high
[edge] bit-rates and high capacity
• The challenge in the services aspect is to create
3rd
party provided access and make it Multi-Radio
Access technology capable
• The challenge in the customer experience dimension
is to provide:
• E2E performance
• Move from network KPI to Services KPI
• Create automation and Self Organizing
Networks
• Multi-Radio Access Technologies

Transport Infra-structure
with massive machine type
communication
• Road sensors can be buried in the road and report
status like traffic volumes, congestion, temperature,
road damage and wildlife presence.
• Need to survive for years without a battery change
and the data volumes exchanged will have to be kept
low.
• The 5G challenges in the network aspect are low
energy, use case adapted latency and wide-area
coverage
• The 5G challenge in the services aspect is many
connections
• The 5G challenges in the customer experience
dimension are device Management and data
aggregation & analytics

Mass market
personalized TV
• In the Networked Society there will be 15bn video-
enabled devices connected to broadband IP,
transforming the consumption experience of TV.
• By 2020 we predict that consumers in advanced
markets will have shifted their patterns to a 50:50 split
of on-demand content vs linear/live TV. As we evolve
to an all-IP world it will open up for an un-plugged
wireless media world.
• 5G will change the media distribution landscape by
providing efficient and flexible media delivery and TV
broadcasting opportunities.
• Together with eco-system players in the consumer
device industry a new media delivery paradigm shift will
be established for mass-market personalized TV
services leveraging 5G

Remote Machinery with
critical
machine type
communication
• Controlling heavy machinery remotely is believed to
become an important use case in the future.
• The reason for remote operation can be due to
hazardous environments for humans or for
increased efficiency and cost.
• 5G challenges in the network are:
• High bit-rates
• Low latency
• Wide-area coverage
• Reliability
• 5G challenges in the services aspect are low
latency, QoS, resources follows the end users
• 5G challenges in the customer experience
dimension is e2e performance for customer
experience and control/management by customer
