2. A LITTLE ABOUT ME
Hello, my name is Rachel. I am a Junior this year here
at MSUM. Currently I am working towards earning my
BFA in Visual Arts and Design. My main focus is on
Photography, in hopes that someday I am able to
speak to other’s through my work. I enjoy creating,
capturing, and learning about the beauty that
surrounds us.
3. FACTS ABOUT IRAN
• “Iran” means “Land of the Aryans”
• Official name is Islamic Republic of Iran
• The land is very dry
• Receives less than 4 inches of rain per year
• Most homes do not have tables or chairs
• Rather, they use cushions on the floor
• Iran is the 18th largest country in the world
• Most popular sport is soccer
• Women follow a strict dress code
4. WEALTH
•The wealthy are the best educated
• More successful and powerful
• Prone to ignore society’s expectations
• Have more opportunity
• Create more freedom for themselves
•The poor have less opportunity
5. EDUCATION
• Recently pushing for more opportunity
• Open for more women, rich or poor
• Resulting in more opportunity for different jobs
• The chance to be more educated in something more
important and realistic
• Women have shown better test results than men at
universities
• Some universities do not accept female Iranians
• Women are not allowed to study subjects such as
economics or engineering
6. HEALTH
• Like schools, the are trying to have a separate
health center for women
• Birth control is used to control population
• Men are in control of the health care
7. EMPLOYMENT
• The man of the family controls whether the women
gets to work or not
• Women who do work, earn less than men no matter
the status
• Women usually do not get the opportunity to work
something of more importance
• Or even get educated for something of higher status or
importance
8. HOME LIFE
• Men are in control of when the woman leaves the
home
• Most women stay home
• Uneducated
• Unemployed
• Care for child and husband if any
• Domestic violence becomes a problem
• Women have less rights in deciding marriage,
divorce, and inheritance

9. DRESS CODE
• The woman’s head must be covered
• Loose clothing
• Covered skin and arms
• Holy places demand “holy wear”
• As for men, most things are excepted
