Trust and Transparency
Introduction
Congratulations reader for purchasing this book.
In this book the authors described different stories of plane crashes in which the
authors showed that how Trust and Transparency will help to lead success and failure. This
book will help you to understand the importance of Trust and Transparency in your personal
and professional life. Trust and transparency both are two sides of one coin. These are the keys
to success in every aspect that we come across in our daily lives.

Chapter 1
Trust and Transparency saved hundreds of lives
This is a story of plane that was almost about to crash.
It’s just after lunch in flight going from Singapore to Perth whose captain was Robert
Gillis, and co-pilots Philip and John. More than 300 passengers were travelling and most of
them were off-duty staff members of that airline returning from holidays. It was a great day.
Sir, would you like a drink??,
Flight attendant Henri said, as he is busy attending to passengers in the cabin.
Umm! Its juice for you Mam! “if I can make your flight a lot easier.”
Popping the cockpit, Captain has just climbed into his seat after a rest break.
“How’s everything dude? Captain asked his co-pilot.” “very good” co-pilot replied.
Suddenly, plane’s auto pilot disconnected as one of the aircraft’s three air data inertial
reference units (ADIRU) started providing incorrect data to the flight computer. After few
seconds, pilots started receiving an electronic message on the aircraft ECAM, about the
irregularity in the inertial systems. They started getting stall warnings and then overspeed
warnings.
Then it happens,
‘’The plane started going down, inclined down and violently down.” Piolet expressed.
They tried to be transparent to the
passengers, and Henri a flight attendant,
patiently announced in the plane,
“There was a technical issue in the plane,
please put your seat belts on”.
At this moment there was a chaos in
this plane. The flight attendants were
helping passengers to ensure their safety
and comfort. They were giving them
instructions. Suddenly a voice came,
3
“Please don’t get panic just cooperate with us and follow the instructions.” A flight attendant
Henri said.
Our captain told us that the whole situation will be under controlled. We can trust him as he is
an experienced US navy officer. They will definitely do their best to save us. Passengers showed
trust and everyone was praying instead of being panic.
Captain began to control the aircraft manually. The autopilot was then re-engaged and
the aircraft started to return to the prior selected flight level. After about 15 seconds, the
autopilot was disengaged again and would remain disengaged for the remainder of flight.
Aircraft made a sudden un-commanded pitch down manoeuvre and rapidly descending 650
feet. Unrestrained passengers and crew as well as some restrained passengers were flung
around the cabin or crushed by overhead luggage as well as crashing with overhead
compartments.
After some time, pilots stabilized the plane and safely landed to the nearest airport, and
declared the state of alert. All the passengers were happy and clapped on their safe landing.
Although, 119 passengers were injured but all were alive. Injuries include fractures, lacerations
and spinal injuries. There was a team of Flying Doctor Service and Care Flight. They provided
emergency aid to the injured and shifted them to hospital for further treatments.
With this Trust and Transparency Captain, first officer, and second officer were
recognized with the “Men of Valor” award for this victory.

Chapter 2
Lack of Trust and Transparency claimed the lives of many people.
-Lack of transparency and truth to pilot caused the plane to crash.
The incident is about air Canada flight AC1234 that lost both of its engines at an altitude
of 2000ft and made immediate forced landing on waters of river x with 150 souls on board.
The day is 12/10//2015. The time is around 2:30 pm.
Thomsen went into his pilot seat, next to him sat his copilot and his friend for ten years.
He read the flight plan and started up the electricity of B787-9 to max, the brand-new jet that
company B made. After he stared up the electricity, a female voice came through the flight
computer.
‘’Good afternoon sir, where are you flying today?’’
Thomsen was shocked, he didn’t know that company B had added AI to the plane, but
he still answered.
“sorry, what shall I call you?”
“You can call me Arial”
Pilot then explained to Arial the flight details. The AI Arial commanded the pilot to take
off saying- “Captain, we are clear to take off. Speed, Range and Fuel has been calculated.”
“Montka airport tower, request push back, over.”
“Montka airport tower accept request, tow truck is on the way, over”
They were slowly getting pushed back, he started the new engine and it roared to life.
Both the pilots were enjoying the new plane and expressing their desire to always drive
the one.
Copilot liked the AI system and appreciated the new features in the plane.
They lined up with the runway. Thomsen put his hand on throttle, he slowly reached the
to the top, the roaring sound of LEAP engine came through runway. The plane started to
accelerate and lifted up at the end of runway.
“Gears up”, commanded Thomsen. In the next moment, it was done without any noise
from hydraulic system.
“It is a nice view over the river”, said co-pilot Drake.
“Yes, it’s adorable”, added Thomsen.
5
But the next moment was not pleasant. Thomsen at once saw the temperature of the
engine rise, the engine reached 1230 degrees centigrade. He knew this wasn’t good and
wondered such an immense increase in the temperature.
“Arial, check the engine temperature.”
“800 degrees centigrade and all engines working well.”
“Arial, I want to lower the throttle by 80 percent.”
“DDD, ALARM. Engine failure, engine one over heated! Engine two over heated.!”
Something was on fire, but the pilots smelled gasoline. The passengers were standing
up, trying to find out what had happened, but nothing was communicated to them. It was at
this time, one engine blew up, tearing the engine shaft apart. One of the fan blades cut into the
cabin, made a huge hole on the wall of cabin. The plane started shaking, like a mad bull trying
to shake the person off from him.
“Drake, try to restart the engine.” Thomsen commanded calmly.
The engine started turning but with grating sound of metal on metal. Thomsen tried to
start the next one. The engine slowly started to turn.
“We got engine two running…”, said Drake.
But before he could finish the sentence, engine two blows up and the whole shaft falls
into the river.
They tried contacting tower, but the newly installed systemhad some other way of
contacting. Arial was no longer there to accept the command and assist in contacting the
tower.
In next few moments, the whole crew on the plane entered the river water like a dragon
out of control, belching out fire and there was no help to save them from that mis happening.

Epilogue/ Conclusion
After scrutinizing the both stories we conclude that trust comes up with transparency
and transparency plays a crucial role in building the Trust.
Trust has got to do with it everything. Everything is based on trust from a personal
relationship to financial institutions, everything! Trust sounds as a simple word that we know
what it is but it is more complex than it seems to be. We think that it takes long to build the
trust but, in many crises, strangers trust each other in a while.
Many researches have been shown that-
 Lack of trust doubles the cost of doing business.
 High- trust companies outperformed low trust companies by about 200%.
 In countries where citizens trust each other more, Poverty is less and vice-versa.
Everything is tied to trust and it is everywhere. Your credit score is your trust score. The
more a lender trust you less you pay for the loan. When trust increases, output, productivity,
innocent and loyalty went up whereas cost, time and stress went down. Overall, you cannot
push it under the carpet by treating trust as a soft skill that does not really affect or impact your
bottom line.
Transparency is, you can say, one of the pillars of trust. Transparency is a principle with
greater value. We value transparent relations with our friends and family members, we want
brands that are transparent about their product, we crave transparent politicians. The
transparency of a business is not only valued by its clients or team members but also brings a
lot of value to that business.
Transparency promotes trust and hence enhances motivation. All of the team members
will work in an efficient way if they know about the goals that moves them and the methods
that are being used. They will stick to the common goal of the team or organization which in
turn increases the motivation of the team. As in a football team a goal may be scored by the
one team member but it is celebrated by all.
By sharing the information about the everyday roles, responsibilities and the
performance of the team members, they learn from each other’s failures and success. Thus, a
clear communication among team members lead to the better understanding of their
expectations.
As Marshall Goldsmith states,
“Feedback is a gift that only others can gift.”
Transparency also leads to increased loyalty not only among team member but also the
client’s loyalty towards a company or product.

Writing a book is harder than we thought. This would have been not possible without
our instructor Dalia Haggag’s inspiration and help throughout the writing process of this book.
We also would like to thank all our team members who put their best to complete this book.
Our overall experience was good. We learned so many new things while writing this book. We

The transparency of a business is not only valued by its clients or team members but also brings a lot of value to that business. Transparency promotes trust and hence enhances motivation. All of the team members will work in an efficient way if they know about the goals that moves them and the methods that are being used. They will stick to the common goal of the team or organization which in turn increases the motivation of the team. As in a football team a goal may be scored by the one team member but it is celebrated by all. By sharing the information about the everyday roles, responsibilities and the performance of the team members, they learn from each other’s failures and success. Thus, a clear communication among team members lead to the better understanding of their expectations. As Marshall Goldsmith states, “Feedback is a gift that only others can gift.” Transparency also leads to increased loyalty not only among team member but also the client’s loyalty towards a company or product.
  • 10. 7 Acknowledgements Writing a book is harder than we thought. This would have been not possible without our instructor Dalia Haggag’s inspiration and help throughout the writing process of this book. We also would like to thank all our team members who put their best to complete this book. Our overall experience was good. We learned so many new things while writing this book. We want to thank God most of all, because without God we wouldn’t able to do any of this.
