2. The G Clamp is an essential tool in the
workshop. They come in a range of sizes and
are generally used for clamping work
securely to a surface or workbench top.
They can also be used to hold pieces of
material together whilst gluing or boring.
3. Tightening the Clamp
The clamp is tightened by turning the
small tommy bar which turns the
threaded rod. Some G Cramps have a
wing nut in place of the bar making it
easier to turn by hand.
5. Sash clamps are used to clamp large
pieces of work together when gluing.
They vary in size and are normally
used in pairs.The lengths are
normally from 460mm to 1370mm.
The bar can be rectangular (bar
clamp) or circular (pipe clamp)in
shape.
8. The Hand Screw provides firm and even
pressure on the material being clamped. The
hand screw is made from hardwood and it
clamps without scratching or marring the
workpiece. The hand screw is ideal for
holding material steady while plaining or
cutting and it easily adjusts to clamp non-
parallel surfaces and odd shapes.
