Records Management and Information Governance Experience
For the past twenty years, I have provided information governance and records management
services to various organizations. The majority of my work has been with the BC Provincial
Government and local governments; however, I have also worked with other provincial and
territorial governments, First Nations, universities and private corporations.
My experience involves most aspects of information governance, including: filing; archiving;
developing information governance policies and procedures, preparing records retention and
disposal authorities; managing a records management program; designing or amending and
implementing various Records Classification and Retention Schedules (RCRS), including
provincial Operational Records Classification Systems (ORCS) and Administrative Records
Classification System (ARCS), Local Government Management Association of BC (LGMA) RCRS
and custom designed RCRS; conducting training sessions in filing, in RCRS theory and practice,
and in the use of the records management systems.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts and Science degree (English and Physics, 1991) and a Master of Arts
degree (English, 1994). I am certified in Generally Accepted Recordkeeping Principles®. I am a
founding member and past-president of the Vancouver Island Chapter of ARMA (Association
of Records Managers and Administrators). I have given records management seminars locally,
provincially and nationally.
