and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) capable of implementing for employers
Professional Accomplishments
1. First full-time Information Access and Privacy Analyst for the City of Victoria (2013).
2. First full-time Privacy Analyst for the Ministry of Finance (2005).
3. First full-time Information Access Coordinator for the Ministry of Transportation (2000) .
4. My advice is sought by FOI and Privacy Analysts working for other public bodies .
5. Authoring, or co-authoring a number of access and privacy training courses, numerous
procedures and policies, guidelines, instructions, forms and various other documents to
more efficiently and effectively administer the access and privacy sides of FIPPA.
Privacy Accomplishments:
1. Developed a short form Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) for the Premier’s Office. It saved
significant time completing PIAs on Office of the Premier @Work website initiatives that shared
many common characteristics.
2. Approximately 250 PIAs completed, including 28 with the City of Victoria and a 62 page
PIA on the Provincial Government’s Corporate Accounting System (the government’s central
accounting and financial reporting system).
3. Conducted approximately 50 to 75 privacy breach investigations.
4. Developed privacy training programs for the Ministry of Transportation and the City of Victoria and
successfully delivered numerous training sessions.
5. Created the City of Victoria’s privacy breach policy
Records Management Accomplishments
1. Managed the migration of Cabinet Operations records from a hard file format to to TRIM
(now known as HP Records Manager). The major tasks were:
Restructuring the LAN to create the same file and folder structure as the electronic
environment.
Mapping the old LAN folder structure to the new LAN structure
Deleting 2990 unnecessary LAN folders and 16807 files to streamline the migration and
prevent unnecessary files from being migrated into the new environment
Creating the electronic file and folder and naming conventions electronic folder structure that
included the naming conventions.
Creating the instructions and procedures to successfully complete the migration and use the
HP Records Manager full-time as its Electronic Document and Records Management System
(EDRMS)
2. 2. Created an inventory of completed Ministry Privacy Impact Assessments and off-sited ten boxes
of the PIAs during the six month period the Provincial Government’s Privacy Services Branch
existed. An additional four boxes of PIAs were prepared and ready for off-siting.
3. Created streamlined LAN structure for the Office of Housing and Construction Standards (OHCS)
and completed initial tasks for migration to HP Records Manager (e.g. demonstrated to staff how
to integrate HP Records Manager with Microsoft Office applications, how to use Manager’s
primary screens and to customize the screens to their preferences).
