1. Shipper sends full shipment details in Pre-alert ( Day 0, 1200 )
2. US Embassy initiates inbound exemption procedures ( Day 0, 1200 )
3. US Embassy contacts DHLE BD to hand over the exemption & authorization paperwork ( Day 0, 1500 )
4. On shipment arrival, DHLE BD submits all inbound customs paperwork for processing ( Day 1, 1300 )
5. Inbound Customs clearance completed ( Day 4, 1300 )
6. Delivery ( Day 5, AM )

BD Outbound pickup BD outbound clearance JP Delivery
1. DOD shipper and DHL receives email confirmation from account owner to make the shipment.**
2. DOD Shipper contacts and gathers necessary outbound paperwork from US Embassy
( Day before pickup )
3. Shipper requests pickup and hands over Shipment paperwork, Outbound exemption and customs authorization
letter to DHLE BD. ( Day 0, AM )
4. DHLE BD submits all customs paperwork ( Day 0, PM )
5. Outbound customs clearance completed ( Day 3, AM )
6. Delivery Japan ( Day 5 )
