2. ABOUT ME
My name is Kelsey Harris and im 17 years old. I am currently studying at Manea Senior College
as a year 12 also I am completing a Certificate IV in Preparation for nursing education at the
Trade Training Centre at Manea Senior College. I am very well mannered and confident when
working with customers and I like to solve problems with what ever arises in the work place. I
was born in New Zealand and moved to Kalgoorlie in 2011 with my parents and siblings.
In the future I hope to work my way up to completing a diploma in nursing. I enjoy looking after
people

6. PERSONAL SKILLS
• Cooperative, being a nurse is involves providing assistance to people
who need care whilst working with others together to achieve a mutual
goal
• Flexible, I understand that working in a hospital that you can run into
things which might hold you back even after your shift is over.
• Determined, if I set my mind to a goal I will achieve it to the best of my
ability
• Motivated, Motivation in the nursing environment is very important
because doing shift work you can get tired and fatigued.
7. PROFESSIONAL SKILLS
• OHS (PPE); This is an important skill to have in the job because as
a nurse you need to be able to protect yourself and the others
around you from some hazardous thingss in the hospital
• Patience; This is a very good skill to have because some patients
require patience when doing observations and tests.
• Fast learner; In the health industry being a fast learner is necessary
to ensure the most accurate care to the patients you have.
• Team work; S – Changing a patients bed, A- there are many things
to do whilst changing a patients bed, for example, keeping a patient
comfy whilst the bed is being changed and actually making the bed,
O – bed has been successfully made and patient is happy.
8. ATTRIBUTES TO THE JOB
• Helpful; helping out in the hospital can make someone's job easier and
its always good to put your input into the workplace.
• Organised; When you first get to your job as a nurse you need to be
organised because paperwork is very important in the workplace
• Good Listener; Listening to certain instructions is very important
because if you don’t listen it can affect the quality of your work
• Trustworthy; Being trusted in the workplace is a good attribute you can
obtain.
9. SKILLS TO CONNECT WITH OTHERS
• Hand signals – Demonstrating actions to someone can help enforce the content you are trying
to achieve.
• Sign Language – You can communicate with people who may be disadvantaged in the way they
can’t hear you but if you can signal your words.
