2. 2012
was an outstanding year for the Lincoln
HeritageCouncil.Despiteatougheconomic
environment, we set records in fundraising
and membership, reflecting a strong demand for our programs and
solid execution by our employees, board members, and volunteers.
We want to recognize the more than 10,000 adult volunteers that
make Scouting come alive for more than 36,000 youth annually.
Without our core group of dedicated Scout leaders, we could not
possibly deliver a sound quality program to children.
In our annual report you will see that, guided by our Executive Board
of Directors, we are able to report another year of membership
growth, increased retention, balanced budget, increased camping
attendance, and 352 Scouts achieving Scouting’s highest honor,
Eagle Scout! In 2012, our council was recognized by the Boy Scouts
of America as having one of the best unit-to-commissioners ratio
in the country. In the past three years, our Scoutreach program
has grown by 70%, serving more than 3,500 Scouts in our highly
disadvantaged areas.
Last year, we delivered a strong financial performance. Friends of
Scouting increased by 14 percent to $1.8 million. Our popcorn and
camp card product sales were over $2 million. Our strong financial
position is best illustrated by our ability to grow.
Scouting truly makes a difference in the lives of children and
in their families. Thank you for your interest and support of the
Lincoln Heritage Council, Boy Scouts of America. We look forward
to celebrating the next century of Scouting with you, our partners.

nation.
The new Lincoln Heritage
Council now provides service
to 36,00 youth, over 10,000
adults and 1,000 units.
As a result, four full-time staff
members were hired to provide
exceptional service.

IN NUMBERS
CUB SCOUTS
Cub Scouts is a year-round family- and home-centered program that develops ethical decision-
making skills for boys in the second through fifth grade.
BOY SCOUTS
Boy Scouting is a year-round program for boys 11 through 17 designed to achieve the aims of
Scouting through a vigorous outdoor program and peer group leadership with the counsel of an
adult Scoutmaster.
VENTURING
Venturing is a year-round program for young men and women who are 14 through 20 years of age
to provide positive experiences through exciting and meaningful youth-run activities that help them
pursue their special interests, grow by teaching others, and develop leadership skills.
EXPLORING
Exploring is a year-round program for young men and women who are 14 through 20 years of age to
provide unique career-exploration programs.
SCOUTING UNLIMITED
Scouting Unlimited works to bring the Scouting program into classrooms full of children with physical,
behavioral, emotional, and/or learning challenges by providing a special-needs curriculum to teach
these students the life skills they need to achieve self-sufficiency. This program serves both male
and female students from age 5 to age 21 with physical, mental, emotional, and behavioral learning
challenges. In 2012, Scouting Unlimited served 163 schools.
SCOUTREACH
The Scoutreach program is a group of strategies that break down economic barriers so that any child
who wants to can participate in Scouting. Scoutreach subsidizes Scouts unable to pay for fees, uniforms
and events, like camping trips.
This year our program helped 3,500 youth from economically disadvantaged neighborhoods with 600
volunteers.
Not only does the Scoutreach program make Scouting possible for inner city youth, but it also provides
them with the opportunity to participate in some of the greatest outdoor experiences that even non-
Scouts dream of.
