GETTING TO KNOW THE ARTIST:
1. Singing and Rapping
TH3RD does a combination of rapping and singing on most of his songs. His style is R&B with a
clear Caribbean influence. This influence stems from TH3RD being from the Virgin Islands.
Though his music is R&B with hip hop influences, the production and composition of the music
and beats are heavily influenced by dancehall and reggaeton music.
2. Songwriting and Lyricism
Lyrically his music is mainly focused on being in love or an unnamed love interest. He does not
use metaphors or a lot of wordplay. Instead, he is straightforward in his lyricismand allows the
Caribbean influence to carry his music. For example, in one of his love songs, the artist says,
“With you, the world don’t feel as heavy.”
3. Beat-making
The beats are more than likely all electronic, but he does use guitar samples and 808s. He also
uses sharp drums in his music a lot. TH3RD is also an audio engineer. For example, in his song
“Hear Me Callin,” he remixes it and adds an interpolation from Vanessa Carlton’s “A Thousand
Miles.”
Elements of Experience
1. Recording/Producing-
TH3RD has a lot of experience pertaining to recording and producing his music. He records all
his records at a studio, according to his Instagram. TH3RD seems to be involved in the whole
recording process, from beat-making to engineering. According to TH3RD’S Instagram, he was
in the studio two days ago working and recording on another record.
2. Cowriting and Collaborating
TH3RD also has experience co-writing and collaborating with other artists such as Busspipe.
According to his Instagram, they wrote and recorded a track around February 22,2022. TH3RD
has also collaborated with an artist named Timo, according to his Instagrampage. They have
recorded a song together and shot a video for it. TH3RD, also according to his social media, has
collaborated with a model named Thatsnajma on Instagram to create a story for his music
video.
3. Social Media Growth
TH3RD currently has 5,454 followers on Instagram. A very organic and interactive following.
Mainly getting 20-30 comments a picture. On Twitter, TH3RD has fewer followers at 1,122.
With YouTube, TH3RD has more of a pulse with 20-32,000 views per vid on his channel.
ARTIST SWOT ANALYSIS:
1. Strengths
TH3RD is highly active in self-promotion. Most of his social media sites, such as
Instagram and Facebook, are updated with a single post daily. This pattern shows
constant activity without overloading his followers’ feeds. On his Twitter and TikTok
TH3RD Portfolio Piece
7
pages, TH3RD updates at a more random pace; he also presents a more personable side
of himself.
2. Weaknesses
TH3RD currently needs to build his fanbase and his reach. With followers ranging from
less than 900 on TikTok to over 20,000 on Facebook, it is clear to see where he has the
most influence. On Spotify, the tracking boasts 16,612 monthly listeners. Growth on
Spotify should be prioritized for maximum exposure.
3. Opportunities
Promotional opportunities such as promoted tweets on Twitter will give TH3RD the
chance to gain views and listeners on his YouTube and Spotify accounts. TH3RD is
currently based in Atlanta, Georgia. He also has numerous live opportunities. Local
Atlanta venue The Masquerade is known for hosting multiple genres and artists. With
three halls available at The Masquerade, known as Heaven, hell, and Purgatory, a
smaller show with sounding artists in the Purgatory Hall, which has a standing capacity
of 300, would give him much-needed exposure and experience to draw the attention of
managers.
4. Threats
A constant and recurring threat to musical artists who wish to tour or perform at live
events is the unpredictable recurrence of shutdowns due to the Covid-19 pandemic. As
seen in 2020, live events were one of the hardest-hit industries, with many smaller
venues losing the necessary income to remain open; another wave could further change
the face of the music industry. Another threat TH3RD could be facing is a lack of
financing. New artists need financial support to promote themselves and create
alternative sources of income, such as physical copies of albums or other merchandise
items.
ACTION ITEMS:
Self-Promotion – Potential Revenue Sources
1. Small merchandise store- He can begin selling stickers, decals, or shirts that can be
promoted on his social media sites.
2. Song downloads - By promoting his Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube channels, it
increases the chance for him to gain revenue from streaming.
3. Tutorials – TH3RD is also a talented producer and audio engineer; he could offer online
tutorials or tutoring sessions. This not only can be seen as a revenue opportunity but
also a feasible way to interact with fans.
Live Event Performances – Potential Revenue Sources
TH3RD Portfolio Piece
8
1. By not limiting himself to specific venues, TH3RD can perform many one-off shows in
the Atlanta region. Including on-campus universities, clubs, or festivals that showcase
local talent.
2. Live streaming – The rise of digital events was a backbone in the height of the pandemic.
Following the return to live events, the addition of a live streaming event, when
possible, can offer the opportunity to reach audiences outside of the Atlanta area.
3. Sponsorships – By building partnerships with local businesses, TH3RD has a chance to
gain sponsors. By simply promoting a local business at live shows, he could also earn
free products or gear as payment.
For each of the two weaknesses identified in the SWOT analysis, brainstorm a list of 2
potential ways to improve or fix the issue/circumstance. (Total of 4)
Building up his fanbase – Potential Solution
1. Opening communication - By letting current fans interact with him also opens the
opportunity to draw the attention of their friends or followers to his platform.
2. Promotional posts – many social networking sites offer promoted or sponsored posts.
By taking advantage of these tools, he could reach others outside his current audience.
Gaining more listeners monthly on Spotify – Potential Solution
1. Use of Spotify codes – a Spotify URI code is much like a QR code. By scanning the code,
it takes a listener to TH3RD’s song or page.
2. Self-promotion- TH3RD is already doing well with balancing his social media posts; he
could tag on a Spotify link or URI image at the end of his future posts. This builds on a
skill he already uses and is a simple method.

  • 6. TH3RD Portfolio Piece 6 GETTING TO KNOW THE ARTIST: 1. Singing and Rapping TH3RD does a combination of rapping and singing on most of his songs. His style is R&B with a clear Caribbean influence. This influence stems from TH3RD being from the Virgin Islands. Though his music is R&B with hip hop influences, the production and composition of the music and beats are heavily influenced by dancehall and reggaeton music. 2. Songwriting and Lyricism Lyrically his music is mainly focused on being in love or an unnamed love interest. He does not use metaphors or a lot of wordplay. Instead, he is straightforward in his lyricismand allows the Caribbean influence to carry his music. For example, in one of his love songs, the artist says, “With you, the world don’t feel as heavy.” 3. Beat-making The beats are more than likely all electronic, but he does use guitar samples and 808s. He also uses sharp drums in his music a lot. TH3RD is also an audio engineer. For example, in his song “Hear Me Callin,” he remixes it and adds an interpolation from Vanessa Carlton’s “A Thousand Miles.” Elements of Experience 1. Recording/Producing- TH3RD has a lot of experience pertaining to recording and producing his music. He records all his records at a studio, according to his Instagram. TH3RD seems to be involved in the whole recording process, from beat-making to engineering. According to TH3RD’S Instagram, he was in the studio two days ago working and recording on another record. 2. Cowriting and Collaborating TH3RD also has experience co-writing and collaborating with other artists such as Busspipe. According to his Instagram, they wrote and recorded a track around February 22,2022. TH3RD has also collaborated with an artist named Timo, according to his Instagrampage. They have recorded a song together and shot a video for it. TH3RD, also according to his social media, has collaborated with a model named Thatsnajma on Instagram to create a story for his music video. 3. Social Media Growth TH3RD currently has 5,454 followers on Instagram. A very organic and interactive following. Mainly getting 20-30 comments a picture. On Twitter, TH3RD has fewer followers at 1,122. With YouTube, TH3RD has more of a pulse with 20-32,000 views per vid on his channel. ARTIST SWOT ANALYSIS: 1. Strengths TH3RD is highly active in self-promotion. Most of his social media sites, such as Instagram and Facebook, are updated with a single post daily. This pattern shows constant activity without overloading his followers’ feeds. On his Twitter and TikTok
  • 7. TH3RD Portfolio Piece 7 pages, TH3RD updates at a more random pace; he also presents a more personable side of himself. 2. Weaknesses TH3RD currently needs to build his fanbase and his reach. With followers ranging from less than 900 on TikTok to over 20,000 on Facebook, it is clear to see where he has the most influence. On Spotify, the tracking boasts 16,612 monthly listeners. Growth on Spotify should be prioritized for maximum exposure. 3. Opportunities Promotional opportunities such as promoted tweets on Twitter will give TH3RD the chance to gain views and listeners on his YouTube and Spotify accounts. TH3RD is currently based in Atlanta, Georgia. He also has numerous live opportunities. Local Atlanta venue The Masquerade is known for hosting multiple genres and artists. With three halls available at The Masquerade, known as Heaven, hell, and Purgatory, a smaller show with sounding artists in the Purgatory Hall, which has a standing capacity of 300, would give him much-needed exposure and experience to draw the attention of managers. 4. Threats A constant and recurring threat to musical artists who wish to tour or perform at live events is the unpredictable recurrence of shutdowns due to the Covid-19 pandemic. As seen in 2020, live events were one of the hardest-hit industries, with many smaller venues losing the necessary income to remain open; another wave could further change the face of the music industry. Another threat TH3RD could be facing is a lack of financing. New artists need financial support to promote themselves and create alternative sources of income, such as physical copies of albums or other merchandise items. ACTION ITEMS: Self-Promotion – Potential Revenue Sources 1. Small merchandise store- He can begin selling stickers, decals, or shirts that can be promoted on his social media sites. 2. Song downloads - By promoting his Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube channels, it increases the chance for him to gain revenue from streaming. 3. Tutorials – TH3RD is also a talented producer and audio engineer; he could offer online tutorials or tutoring sessions. This not only can be seen as a revenue opportunity but also a feasible way to interact with fans. Live Event Performances – Potential Revenue Sources
  • 8. TH3RD Portfolio Piece 8 1. By not limiting himself to specific venues, TH3RD can perform many one-off shows in the Atlanta region. Including on-campus universities, clubs, or festivals that showcase local talent. 2. Live streaming – The rise of digital events was a backbone in the height of the pandemic. Following the return to live events, the addition of a live streaming event, when possible, can offer the opportunity to reach audiences outside of the Atlanta area. 3. Sponsorships – By building partnerships with local businesses, TH3RD has a chance to gain sponsors. By simply promoting a local business at live shows, he could also earn free products or gear as payment. For each of the two weaknesses identified in the SWOT analysis, brainstorm a list of 2 potential ways to improve or fix the issue/circumstance. (Total of 4) Building up his fanbase – Potential Solution 1. Opening communication - By letting current fans interact with him also opens the opportunity to draw the attention of their friends or followers to his platform. 2. Promotional posts – many social networking sites offer promoted or sponsored posts. By taking advantage of these tools, he could reach others outside his current audience. Gaining more listeners monthly on Spotify – Potential Solution 1. Use of Spotify codes – a Spotify URI code is much like a QR code. By scanning the code, it takes a listener to TH3RD’s song or page. 2. Self-promotion- TH3RD is already doing well with balancing his social media posts; he could tag on a Spotify link or URI image at the end of his future posts. This builds on a skill he already uses and is a simple method.
