State of the Map Asia 2017
How it all began…
• In April 2017, I participated in a mapping course of two
weeks
• The course encouraged us participants to investigate local
issues in our communities through a spatial lens using
open source mapping tools
• Through a number of hands-on activities, training
sessions, presentations and discussions, we were guided
through a process of developing
issue-driven research projects focusing on our
communities
TracingTime
• Selected bus
routes for a
sample map
Bus
routes
• Got help from a
KLL member to go
from school to
Banasthali
• Used OSM tracker
to trace the route
Tracing
• Inserted
the route in
a map

Buried the degradable
and called the
‘nagarpalika’ to take the
non-degradable waste
