Dr.V.Karthikeyan, M.E., Ph.D., is the Principal of Thiagarajar Polytechnic College (A Government aided
autonomous institution), Salem and Chairman of The Institution of Engineers (I), Salem Local Centre.
He has obtained his Bachelor's Degree (Civil Engineering) during 1987 and Master's degree during
1996 and obtained Ph.D., for research on Municipal Solid Waste Management during April 2009.
He has published 14 research papers in International, National Journals and magazines and also
presented a number of papers in International, National Seminars in the field of Air, Water, Soil,
Municipal Solid Waste and concrete.
Experience and Achievements
His teaching experience spans over 30 years under various capacities. His untiring efforts and keen
involvements in all the activities are reflected in achieving many laurels to Thiagarajar Polytechnic
College:
 Received National Level SEED-SIIP Award 2015 considering the outstanding work done on
sustainable institute-industry partnerships.
 Received National level AICTE-CII Best Industry-Linked Technical Institute Award 2014 for Civil
Engineering and Electrical & Electronics Engineering programmes
 Received ISTE-National level Best Polytechnic Principal Award for 2013 in recognition of the best
overall performance in the field of Technical Education in the country, during the 43rd National
Annual Convention held at Tatyasaheb Kore Institute of Engineering and Technology,
Warnanagar, Kolhapur on 19 Dec 2013.
 Received ISTE TN & P Section Appreciation Award-2014 for significant increase of ISTE Life
Membership between 2013 and 2014.
 Selected and undergoing the prestigious UKIERI (United Kingdom-India Education and Research
Initiative) Training on “Further Education Leadership Development” sponsored by AICTE, New
Delhi.
 Implementing the prestigious UKIERI (United Kingdom-India Education and Research Initiative)
“Community College Education Project” sponsored by AICTE, New Delhi.
 Received the Award for the Outstanding Public Services from the Worshipful Mayor of Salem
Corporation on the Republic Day Celebrations held on 26.1.2014

 Recipient of the "Best ISTE Chapter Chairman Award for Polytechnic Colleges" for the year 2009,

 Obtained the National Board of Accreditation as Second Term of five years for Civil, Mechanical,
Electrical & Electronics, Production and Textile programmes during March 2012 – TPT is among 5
Polytechnic Colleges in India to receive this prestigious feat.
