is also one of the founding members of the 1,000 Insect
Transcriptome Evolution Project.
3. With both a Master’s degree and a Ph.D. in Entomology from
the University of Minnesota, Karl Kjer has repeatedly
demonstrated his passion for insects.

interview. “They were the first to form social societies, farm,
and sing just about anything you can imagine. Insects are the
dominant players in almost all terrestrial ecosystems, and as
such, they have a major impact on agriculture and human
health.
