Karl Kjer was given the 2016 Hodson Alumni Award. Karl Kjer just love teaching and learning about insects. Karl Kjer fascinated with them for as long as I can remember, and want to share this passion with our students at UC Davis.

2. Karl Kjer, a former tenured professor, now a freelance
academic writer for Upwork. Karl Kjer is a highly-cited author
whose work can be seen on his Google Scholar Page. Karl Kjer
is also one of the founding members of the 1,000 Insect
Transcriptome Evolution Project.

3. With both a Master’s degree and a Ph.D. in Entomology from
the University of Minnesota, Karl Kjer has repeatedly
demonstrated his passion for insects.

4. Insects did just about everything first,” Kjer said in a 2016
interview. “They were the first to form social societies, farm,
and sing just about anything you can imagine. Insects are the
dominant players in almost all terrestrial ecosystems, and as
such, they have a major impact on agriculture and human
health.

5. I just love teaching and learning about insects, Karl Kjer
continued. “I have been fascinated with them for as long as I
can remember, and want to share this passion with our students
at UC Davis. I believe that understanding evolution makes life
richer.In recognition of his professional excellence, Karl Kjer
was given the 2016 Hodson Alumni Award.
