former tenured professor, a contributor to the Trichoptera
Barcode of Life Database and one of the co-founders of the 1,000
Insect Transcriptome Evolution Project.

studies,” wrote Karl Kjer when explaining his views on science,
“genomics and bioinformatics are now changing the way we
conduct and even think about science.

the two extremes of jumping on every bandwagon, to clinging
to the familiar, even when it is obsolete.

motivation behind everything I do in science, and I maintain
the same fascination with natural history as I had as a child.
Karl Kjer holds a Ph.D. and a Master of Science degree in
Entomology, both of which he received from the University of
Minnesota.
