1. WHAT/HOW I’D LIKE TO LEARN IN CAL II
Forum Summary
Most of the comments of my classmates in the forum about the contents
of CALL II were that are pretty much the same than the last semester, for
example the E-portfolio, the pages to English Learning, google, blogs,
etc.
Even though, the new topics inside the content of the class looks very
interesting to practice, the Human Language Technologies is one
content that is going to be very useful for us in our future as teachers.
Given that we have to learn how to use technology in our classes for the
students to learn better and with improve activities.
Also, other classmates think that this class is linked with the others and it is
very important to apply what we learn in this class in the others, and
show that technology is now important in Second Language Learning.
Some of us like challenge, so we want to use more difficult pages, like
translators, more advance English pages, software, etc.
Finally in what we all agreed, is in that we expect to practice our
reading, speaking, but more important, our writing, spelling and
orthography. Because it is very difficult for some of us spell correctly on
the web. Because almost always we use informal language, so we need
to practice formal language writing. Pretty much that is it, and obviously
the better way in how we can learn more all this content of the class, it
would be practicing a lot, managing pages, software, searchers, blogs,
E-portfolios, etc. And practice writing in forums, so that way our skills get
better.

HOW I’D LIKE TO LEARN IN CALL II proposal
About how to learn CALL II, we found that most of the students in our
group want to learn through the practice. In addition, some of them
mentioned that is important to work in teams, but meanly they want to
explore, to know and to manage new programs, web sites and the
different tools that technology offers in these days. Also most of our
partners said that they want the class be dynamic, funny, interesting and
by working in teams.
For these reason our proposal about the way of learning in this subject is
a practical way. The students don’t want to learn theory of how to use
the computer, they want to use the computer and learn through its use.
Reading from different books and articles about this subject, we could
find that the computer´s role and learner´s role are equally important. Is
not just to leave that the computer do everything but the learner has to
explore to know how to manipulate correctly different tools in the
computer to improve the knowledge of the language. Also it says that is
important the theoretical phase using different didactic strategies to
develop interactions and environments for language learning.

4. About the contents we propose I think it could be important to explain
since the very beginning why is important and what it’s the potential
when you are working with technology in a second language learning. I
think this could be just theoretical.
It also found interesting that maybe the teacher could explain us good
input to apply with the students when we’ll in “real world”, it may be fun
explain it doing an input “microteaching”. Another topics we found
were research methods, focus on learning tasks and tools for build
learning tasks, these three topics we already had seen them, but it could
be interesting to explore them a little bit more, because are really
important for us as a English teachers. Its great learn more about this in a
practical way, exploring several sites, were could be different activities
related to second language acquisition.
I think that “English language assessment” and “Human Language
Technologies” are linked between them, explore more about this topics
it could give us more ideas about how to manage and monitor the
students knowledge and their process through learning, designing lessons
plans where we could add some time to give feedback and retro
alimentation to the students could be fun. And like my classmates said,
we want a fun class so it could be fun for us make a WWW site and use it
with English teaching proposes.
Finally another topic it call our attention was motivations in second
language learning. No just in the computer area, but in general, I
remember one of my classmates say, that this class it was linked to the
others, so if we could see more about how motivate our students that
could help us a lot in the future.
