Discover the author’s intended meaning. We do this by applying the following rules: 1) Continuity of the message: Use the Bible to interpret the Bible. Use clearer passages to help interpret those less clear. 2) Context of the material: immediate; historical and cultural 3) Customary meaning: use the natural, normal and customary meaning of literature
