nA hydrocele is a type of swelling in
the scrotum that occurs when fluid
collects in the thin sheath
surrounding a testicle.
3. Cause
s Exact cause is unknown
Injury or surgery to the scrotam area
It may be cause d by infection of
epididymis or testicles
Some time it can caused by cancer of
testicles.
4. Sign and
symptoms Swelling of scrotum
Redness of scrotum
Pain
Feeling of pressure at the base of
penis
5. Diagnostic
test History collection
Physical examination
Transillumination: dr. Shine a light
behind each testicle. Light will shine
through the testicle if the fluid is
present.
Ultrasound
Blood test
6. Manageme
nt Surgery done if hydrocele
cause discomfort.
Niddle aspiration is done
Sclerotherapy done to
reduce reaccumulation.
7. Nursing
management Advise patient to avoid riding bike at
list 3 week
Avoid sternous activity
Maintain hygiene to prevent infection
Provide icepack to reduce pain
