Building with Intention
THE ERG GAME
• Two decks of cards – judge and player.
• Players pick up 5 red cards.
• Judge picks a slate card and reads aloud.
• Each player picks one red card from their hand and
tries to convince judge that theirs is the best answer.
• Judge chooses winner. The winner keeps slate card.
• Players pick one more red card from deck so that they
have 5 total.
• A new judge picks from slate deck.
• Player with most slate cards at the end wins.
Building with Intention – The ERG Game
Table consists of two stacks of cards, slate question(judge) cards and red descriptor(player) cards.
To begin each player picks up five red descriptor cards in their hand.
Group members take turns as judge, the judge picks a slate card from the top of the stack, reads the phrase aloud, and places it face-up on the table.
Each player presents a red descriptor card from their hand that they think best describes the judge’s slate card question and explains their reasoning behind the card they play. Each player wants to convince the judge – and the table – that their card answers the judge’s question the best.
The judge picks a red player card they believe best suits the slate card and discusses with group the reason why they selected card. The player whose card was chosen wins the round and keeps the slate card.
The judge collects all the red cards played during that round and discards them.
The player with the most red cards at the end wins the game.
