2. One of the first problems we faced as a group
was using up all the battery of our iPhone whilst
out filming at the first location: The abandoned
fort. Although we had both the camera and
mobile device we found that the phone was
better to get the shots we needed once paired
with the stabiliser. After realising this we knew
that we had to use time wisely if we wanted to
get all the possible footage we needed. We
overcome this problem by assigning certain
uses to each phone that we had presently on
us. In this case Nicole’s phone was used to film
the main thriller footage on, Amee’s phone was
used to film the vlog, Abbie’s phone was used to
take behind the scene pictures and Jordan’s
phone was used to contact any parents in case
of an emergency. By doing so this meant that
we were able to film everything we needed and
prepare ourselves for knowing to bring battery
packs to the day two of filming at the second
location.

3. PROBLEM 2
The second problem we faced as a
group was the windy conditions at
the second location: South Weald.
We found when it came to filming
that the wind was easily picked up by
the mic on both the camera and
iPhone. We carried on filming
regardless in the hope that our thriller
music would be loud enough to
drown it out of the background. This
is because we knew it would be
distracting for the audience to listen
to when viewing our thriller opening,
and overall have a negative impact
on the atmosphere created. This
problem was however solved
particularly well as during post-
production we found that we could
mute the audio clip on the editing
software we have chosen to use.
4. PROBLEM 3
The third problem we faced as a group
was accidentally deleting the focus group
video once it had all be edited and ready
to upload to blog. At this point in the
process we were set with the deadline of
having the first rough draft of our thriller
opening by Friday 10th March. The focus
group had already taken us two days to
do, so to save time Nicole re-filmed and
edited the focus group whilst Abbie and
Jordan begun the editing process. By
doing so it allowed us to meet both the
blog post deadline and progress well into
the editing process without being behind
in comparison to other media groups.
This was a small set back that was easily
solved and we now know for next time to
make sure that all footage is backed up
so we don’t have to face this problem
again.
