1. Homework 2 – Institutions Research
I investigated who owns Classic Rock magazine. I found out that a
business named TeamRock. TeamRock mainly focuses on things to
do with rock music and its offshoots as the name would imply.
They produce a radio station called TeamRock and the magazines
“Classic Rock”, “Metal Hammer”, “Prog” and “Blues magazine”.
“Metal Hammer” concerns heavy metal music, “Prog” is all about
progressive rock and “Blues Magazine” deals with blues music and
blues rock. “Classic Rock” is their most popular magazine and deals
with rock music from the 60s to early 90s. It also includes articles and
reviews of contemporary and upcoming artists it deems worthy of
note. The radio station plays rock and metal music all week except
Sunday and mostly consists of what they call “Non-stop Rock” which
is just a massive playlist of rock and metal music. There are
occasionally special segments such as “Party Rock” which consist of
party tunes in the genre of rock music and “Worst to First” which
deals with the best songs from different eras and artists.
They target anybody who is interested with rock music or its
offshoots and wants to listen to it on the radio or read about it in a
magazine. They don’t have a demographic or psychographic as such
just people who like rock music.
TeamRock isn’t a subsidiary and is the executive chairman is John
Myers who is the former GMG Radio chief executive and the radio
station is led by Billy Anderson, the former Scottish managing
director of Real Radio owner GMG Radio.
