Stakeholder engagement and science communication. I have six years' experience in
stakolder engagement in spatial conservation planning, including organising workshops,
eliciting expert information and developing planning products. I have a strong presence in
several social media platforms (e.g. Twitter) and experience in using online collaboration
tools (e.g. Github).
Open science. I have deep understanding on the concepts, benefits and costs of open
access publishing, open research data (including data management planning) and open
research methods. I am a founding member of Open Knowledge Finland's open science
working group, one the largest open science networks in Finland.
Programming and computational tools. I have experience in following programming
languages: R (7 years, incl. geospatial packages and data manipulation, package
development, and visualization), Python (10 years, incl. various geospatial packages,
numpy, scipy, IPython, pandas, matplotlib, Django), Ruby (2 years, web development), Java
(2 years) and Javascript (1 year, web development and visualisation). I am fluent in Linux
desktop and server administration and MSWindows. I can do web development in
HTML/CSS(3 years experience) and have a working knowedge in PostgreSQL and MySQL
RDBMS. I am proficient in git version control system.
Geographic information systems. I am fluent in many desktop (ArcGIS, QGIS, GRASS)
and database (PostGIS) GIS, as well as programmatic libraries (e.g. GDAL, GEOS). I am
familiar with GeoServer web GISand leaflet and OpenLayers client-side mapping libraries.
