Systems & Solutions
Leachate drainage pipe systems - These PE pipe systems are
pre drilled or slotted in our manufacturing facility. Standard
configurations are available to suit most applications and custom
products are available on request. We are able to assist with
system design. Many sub-assemblies may be pre-fabricated off
site which is very cost effective and greatly reduces the site work.
Our trained technicians are able to undertake all types of poly
fabrication and welding.
Inspection covers and access points - Gas tight access covers
allow for inspection and maintenance of pipework systems.
Safety labels are provided to warn of potential gas hazards.
Vertical Sumps - These are commonly required for access to
collection pipework and pump installations. Allflow offer a
reinforced telescopic sump system which is lightweight for easy
installation and highly resistant to corrosive landfill wastes.
Side Slope Risers - A convenient method of installing leachate
drainage pumps is the use of a side slope riser. This is often used
in place of a vertical sump. This design allows landfill drains to be
completed during the initial cell construction and eliminates the
need for sump extensions as the landfill depth increases. Potential
damage from heavy equipment and also from deformation from
subsidence of the fill is minimized.
Gas tight caps - Allflow Sumps and Risers are sealed using our
pre-fabricated cap system. This is a gas tight cap with provision
for leachate drainage pipes, gas collection pipes and monitoring
equipment.
Telemetry - Allflow Modular Telemetry Stations are solar
powered with battery backup for simple installation and
reliable operation. The data from leachate flow, level and other
environmental sensors is relayed to a central control system.
Optional GSM systems transmit to our central server which
reduces establishment costs. A secure web based management
and reporting system is made available for management and
reporting purposes. SCADA systems may also be specified
to integrate with your existing monitoring and control
infrastructure.
Pumps - Leachate drainage pumps must operate in a corrosive
and potentially explosive environment. Allflow Leachate
pumping systems are available in intrinsically safe electric
options as well as compressed air powered versions. We also
stock the patented EPG sidewinder which has been specifically
developed for side slope riser applications. Our experienced
technical experts are able to assist with the design and
specification of the correct system for your application.
Leachate Ponds and Treatment Systems - Allflow are able
to supply and install sludge lagoons and ponds where on-site
treatment is required. Diffused or mechanical aeration pits,
rotation biological processing (RBC) and membrane bio reactor
(MBR) systems are some of the products we support and install.
Gas Collection Wells and pipework - A range of pipe systems
including perforated pipe is available for all landfill gas collection
systems. These usually include vertical wells and lateral collection
lines. Vacuum collection systems and gas monitoring equipment
is also supplied.
Accessories - Many specialized accessories including
barometric condensate traps, syphon knockout pots, gas vents
and prefabricated manifold and valve systems are available.
Custom products are constructed under controlled conditions
in our manufacturing facility for superior quality and reduced
installation time.
Dual Containment Piping - Hazardous waste or sensitive
environmental considerations may dictate the use of a dual
containment system. Allflow Systems are able to fabricate
and supply a complete range of double containment products
including pipes, fittings, pump stations and sumps. These may
be produced using a variety of materials such as PE, HDPE, PVC,
UPVC and PPR to suit any particular application.
Installation Service - The experienced Allflow team is available
for complete site installation, set up and commissioning of your
landfill drainage project. Our operators are trained and qualified
to install polyethylene pipe systems to Australian Standards. We
can save you time and cost and install a high quality solution
which will be guaranteed to perform as designed.

2. Groundwater collection
Some landfill sites require
collection and diversion or
drainage of groundwater which
may accumulate under the cell
liner.
Leachate Sump
A drainage sump needs to be
provided within the cell liner
for collection and extraction of
the leachate. A pump is usually
required.
Cell Liner
A Polyethylene liner, usually fully
welded, and placed on a suitable
compacted and graded base, to
contain leachate and prevent
groundwater contamination.
Leachate
Leachate is a potentially toxic
liquid discharge from landfill
waste and stormwater infiltration.
The composition varies according
to the type of waste and the age
of the landfill. It usually contains
suspended and dissolved solids
including organic waste, high
levels of ammoniacal nitrogen,
chlorides and metals. The leachate
stream needs to be collected and
treated or disposed in an approved
waste system.
Landfill Cap
A completed landfill cell needs to
be appropriately sealed to limit
rainwater infiltration and to assist
with the landfill gas collection.
Compacted clay is commonly
used, sometimes in conjunction
with an additional LDPE liner.
A topsoil layer is then placed to
allow vegetation regrowth which
assists with preventing subsequent
erosion.
Monitoring Equipment
Monitoring conditions within a
landfill cell is important for control
of leachate levels and pumping
equipment. Various flow and
level sensors are monitored via
telemetry systems which send data
to a central location for control
and reporting.
Landfill Gas
Landfill gas is a combustible
gas mixture generated by the
decomposition of organic
waste. It is composed of 40%
to 60% methane along with
carbon dioxide and smaller
concentrations of other gases such
as hydrogen sulphide. Methane
is a significant greenhouse gas
and the landfill gas mixture is
also a source of odour. Landfill
gas is usually collected using
perforated pipe gas wells and
collection manifolds and negative
pressure (extraction fans) may
be utilized to assist this process.
The collected gas is oxidized in an
enclosed flare system or treated
with a bio filtration process. Large
landfill sites allow for economical
installation of gas filtration and
power generation systems which
utilize the gas to provide electricity.
Landfill gas is produced for a
number of decades after the waste
has been placed.
Landfill Equipment Solutions
Landfill design should only be undertaken in conjunction with an
experienced and suitably qualified engineer.
