John Leckie, Inc., is a provider of school bus transportation services located in Hackensack, New Jersey. Established in 1958, John Leckie, Inc., maintains contracts with a number of school districts, including South Bergen Jointure Commission and Hackensack Public Schools. There are a number of requirements an individual must meet in order to become a professional school bus driver in the state of New Jersey. Requirements may differ for drivers involved with the Department of Education (DOE) and educational organizations. That said, both groups of aspiring school bus drivers must secure both a passenger (P) and school bus (S) endorsement. Requirements for P endorsement DOE drivers range from passing a physical fitness exam to the ability to differentiate between the colors red, green, and amber. Individuals must be at least 21 years of age with 20/40 vision in both eyes and 70-degree peripheral vision in each eye. Drivers can be eligible for a P endorsement if they can meet these standards with the help of corrective lenses. Non-DOE drivers are also required to pass a background check. Additional requirements for the commercial license school bus S endorsement, meanwhile, mainly involve fingerprints. Individuals must complete a fingerprint form, schedule an appointment with the New Jersey fingerprint vendor, and submit their files with IdentoGo. Non-DOE drivers must also submit forms to MorphoTrak and provide additional information to their employers.
