2. The English
The Chav
• The Stereotype of a chav can
be seen in British TV Dramas
such as Shameless, they tend
to be characters that are poor,
violent, uneducated, rude,
poorly dressed, wear fake
designer clothing and live in a
council estate. They are
usually seen in cities like
Manchester and Liverpool as
well as towns in South East
England and East London.
The Snob
• A snob is a binary opposite
of a chav, meaning they are
usually very rich, educated,
live in classy
houses/apartments, enjoy
fine dining, going to the
theatre/opera and dressing
very smart. A snob can be
seen in the reality show
Made In Chelsea.
3. The Scottish
• The Scottish are typically known as being
aggressive, drunk, poor, ginger, sometimes
know to wear plaid and even kilts. They’re not
seen to be very pleasant and are known to
violent and racist. They have strong, thick
accents that can be seen to be quite comical.
• The Scottish can be found in TV Dramas like
Waterloo Road and Rockface
4. The Irish
• Similar to the Scottish, the Irish are known to
be aggressive and drunk. Some may say that
they smell too. A theme seems to show that
British people/media are heavily racist and
offensive to surrounding countries. TV Shows
such as Father Ted and Deception show these
types of characters. Irish are also known to be
quite religious and sometimes very friendly to
females.
5. The Welsh
• The Welsh are known to be living somewhere
in the country side, perhaps shown as farmer
or workers. Sometimes shown to be quite
stupid. A running joke across Britain seems to
be a rather crude reference to the Welsh and
there sheep. The Welsh can be seen in such
Media as Gavin & Stacey.
6. Londoners
• A round about stereotype of a Londoner
shows them being rough, alcoholic, football
maniacs who live in council estates with
shaved heads and tattoos.
