Hummingbird nests are very small, measuring just over an inch. They are made soft and flexible to protect the tiny eggs and chicks. The hummingbird eggs are about the size of a small jellybean and mothers incubate them for 11 to 18 days, keeping them warm, until the babies hatch with closed eyes and no feathers, having begun life as the smallest eggs in the world.
