Achievements.
(These are only highlights of achievements during my Military career)
• The General Support Base concept was a total new concept in the Defense Force. In
both Johannesburg and Lohatlha areas of responsibility I was a Pioneering member in
effectively establishing this new concept.
• At both Johannesburg and Lohatlha General Support Bases as the Pioneering
member of the Logistical Departments, it was my privilege to establish from a zero base
the full logistical function with supporting systems and procedures, which are to date still
being used.
• At Lohatlha General Support Base we later successfully managed the transition from
a manual accounting system to the computerized CALMIS system.
• At both mentioned bases our personnel came from the old school where the General
Support Base concept did not exist. With their transfers to these bases it was their first
introduction to this new concept. We successfully motivated trained and led them to
change from the old to the new, to the extent that this process could later be delegated
to them when new personnel were appointed.
• At both these bases we successfully scrapped and rationalized the old costly logistical
principal of “Just In case” and implemented the new cost effective logistical principal of
“Just In Time”.
• At 7 SA Division we successfully closed down 3 Brigades as well as the Division. Due
to restructuring in the SA Army, which was in process at that time, these organizations
were disbanded and replaced with smaller organizations (when a military organization is
disbanded the logistical function is the last to close down). As the Logistical Management
Officer of the Division I was the last member transferred from the Division. The Division
with all three subordinate Brigades and units were successfully closed down and
archived at the National Archives.
• While serving as the Officer Commanding of Bastion Logistical Base we received the
Officer Commanding 7 SA Division’s Commendation Certificate for commanding
excellence.
• While serving as the SO3 Log Ops of 7 SA Division we successfully introduced the
use of computers in the field during military operations. This pilot project paved the way
for the successful permanent introduction of computers as standard equipment when
mobilizing for operations.

Achievements. (These are only highlights of achievements during my Military career) • The General Support Base concept was a total new concept in the Defense Force. In both Johannesburg and Lohatlha areas of responsibility I was a Pioneering member in effectively establishing this new concept. • At both Johannesburg and Lohatlha General Support Bases as the Pioneering member of the Logistical Departments, it was my privilege to establish from a zero base the full logistical function with supporting systems and procedures, which are to date still being used. • At Lohatlha General Support Base we later successfully managed the transition from a manual accounting system to the computerized CALMIS system. • At both mentioned bases our personnel came from the old school where the General Support Base concept did not exist. With their transfers to these bases it was their first introduction to this new concept. We successfully motivated trained and led them to change from the old to the new, to the extent that this process could later be delegated to them when new personnel were appointed. • At both these bases we successfully scrapped and rationalized the old costly logistical principal of “Just In case” and implemented the new cost effective logistical principal of “Just In Time”. • At 7 SA Division we successfully closed down 3 Brigades as well as the Division. Due to restructuring in the SA Army, which was in process at that time, these organizations were disbanded and replaced with smaller organizations (when a military organization is disbanded the logistical function is the last to close down). As the Logistical Management Officer of the Division I was the last member transferred from the Division. The Division with all three subordinate Brigades and units were successfully closed down and archived at the National Archives. • While serving as the Officer Commanding of Bastion Logistical Base we received the Officer Commanding 7 SA Division’s Commendation Certificate for commanding excellence. • While serving as the SO3 Log Ops of 7 SA Division we successfully introduced the use of computers in the field during military operations. This pilot project paved the way for the successful permanent introduction of computers as standard equipment when mobilizing for operations.
