ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
More than twenty years of experience in non-profit management and governance, including
the expansion of programs and support for emerging organizations, with a focus on
including those affected by policy or program. Increased community engagement in
neighborhood planning, policy review and public safety efforts, resulting in increased
resident involvement in neighborhoods. By using similar strategies expanded a fledgling
state-wide coalition to include additional cities and regions and developed policy and
advocacy documents.

2. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
December 2010 – present
Executive Director, Sector 4 Community Development Corporation (initially a consultant
position, named Executive Director in December 2010). Responsible for supervising
projects, writing grants, fiscal and program management. Coordinate agency efforts with
other community initiatives, including City of Rochester Brownfield Opportunity Area,
neighborhood planning, and business development and promotion. Established partnership
with other organizations to seek additional resources for SW neighborhoods. In past three
years, grant awards of more than $500,000 were received.
April 1, 2008 – December 31, 2010
Coordinator, Empire State Housing Alliance, a state-wide coalition of housing organizations
and advocates. Responsible for writing white paper/housing brief, drafting press releases,
coordinating meetings and events, researching housing issues and developing policy
responses, recruit new member organizations, and provide technical assistance as needed
for member groups, especially those focusing on community organizing. As coordinator,
developed relationships with partner organizations, and presented information on legislative
and policy issues.
January 1998 – March 2008
Executive Director, Group 14621 Community Association, Inc., 1171 N. Clinton Avenue,
Rochester. As Director, responsible for oversight of neighborhood based, community-
controlled, advocacy organization; including supervision of staff, administration of programs
serving Sector 9 of the city of Rochester, development of new initiatives in response to
identified needs in the community, grant writing. Grants received include additional funding
for housing rehabilitation, development of the 14621 Community Technology Center and
support for grass-roots initiatives. As Director, participate in collaborative efforts including
the Rochester Children’s Zone, REEP Collaborative, CHANGE Collaborative, Franklin H.S.
Community Support Team, and with the Carter Street Recreation Center/Genesee
Settlement House initiative.
1995 – 1998
Executive Director, North East Area Development (NEAD), 360 Webster Avenue. As
Executive Director, responsible for oversight of agency, staff and programs; obtained
CHDO status for organization; grant writing; and program development.
1992 – 1995
Eastside Community Center, 145 Parsells Avenue. Assistant Director, Family Services:
responsible for administration of Senior Nutrition Center program, staff and volunteers;
supervised case management staff for Frail Elderly Program and the Emergency
Assistance program as needed. Worked to develop intergenerational programming and
experiences with the Day Care program.
