Conclusion
• Fieldwork experience and lab experience has
concreted the possibilities of a public health
career and orients future paths for growth
Discussion
• Limitations include presence of Asian grocery stores in
area and obtaining approval for outreach
• Approval for outreach in the Japanese grocery store
was rescinded therefore was zero outreach in Japanese
store
•The foundational grocery store program has
successfully been repurposed to the Poison Control
Project
• These results suggest that the grocery store program
can be repurposed as a basic means of disseminating
health information to the Asian Pacific Islander
community through student health educators

* The data gathered reflected the success of the project and confirms the assumption that the
Poison Control Service has been under-utilized by the San Diego API community.
