5. MARCH FOR OUR LIVES –
PARKLAND
Alex Wind
FAST COMPANY MOST CREATIVE PEOPLE 2018
Cofounder, March For Our Lives | Parkland, Florida
Alex Wind is an activist and cofounder of the #NeverAgain gun-control movement, as well as the subsequent advocacy
group, March For Our Lives. Wind is a survivor of the February 2018 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High
School in Parkland, Florida, where a former student entered the school with an assault weapon and took the lives of 17
students and faculty members. Following the attack, Wind, a drama club member at Marjory Stoneman Douglas, was
one of the first students to speak out about the shooting on social media, and sang the national anthem at a Miami
Heat basketball game. In March, Wind and his fellow group members organized the March For Our Lives, which drew
more than 1 million people onto the streets of Washington, D.C., and other cities for the largest pro-gun control rally in
U.S. history.
As a rising senior, Wind plans to continue his work with March For Our Lives and the #NeverAgain movement, namely
by mobilizing young voters and reaching out to other youth groups for collaboration and partnerships with March For
Our Lives.
