9. PHYSICAL FITNESS
• It is a set of abilities that one possesses in
order to perform physical activities. A
physical activity is any bodily movement
produced by contraction of skeletal
muscles. Exercise is a type of physical
activity consisting of planned, structured
and repetitive bodily movement. This
means that physical fitness is a
measurable set of characteristics that is
determined by exercise habits.
10. FITNESS COMPONENTS
Physical fitness is made up of 2 major components:
(1) Health Related Fitness and (2) Skill- Related Fitness.
• Health Related Fitness (HRF) consists of components that have
relationship with good health, or a lower risk of illness, diseases and
conditions. It is the ability of the heart, lungs, muscles and joints to
perform a task.
• Skill Related Fitness (SRF) consists of components that have a
relationship with learning motor skill quickly and the ability to achieve
a high level of performance in sports.
