Competencies & Software Skills:

Courses taught include Graphic Design I & II, Two Dimensional Design, Illustration, Intro to Studio Art, Intro to Computer Graphics, and Web Design.
• Introduction to Studio Art - Is a course for non art majors. Teaching a variety of mediums and techniques and how the principles of design work
and translate are key components to the class. This was also an introduction into various forms of art and artists through history into the present
time.
• Two Dimensional Design - Is a core requirement for all art majors. In this course the focus is on the principles of art and design, an introduction
to color theory, the use of various materials and mediums, and the importance of creativity and how the critique process can help everyone
grow as artists.
• Illustration - In this course students explore the idea of images as narratives, both in a direct and indirectly. Students were required to draw
from life as well as their imaginations. Students were also given smaller weekly illustrative projects as well as larger more involved projects.
• Introduction to Computer Graphics - This course is set up to give students a taste of the Adobe software products. Students explore the
software through exercises, demonstrations, and larger projects. Slide shows with examples of other artists demonstrate the endless creative
possibilities.
• Graphic Design I and II - In these courses students explore commercial arts. Demonstrating how much exposure everyone has to it in their daily
life. It’s also important to reestablish and encourage the basic design concepts and color theories has they do apply in all areas of art. Graphic
Design II is an opportunity for students to dive deeper. Projects are more advanced such as multi page layouts, design packages, and projects
that require teamwork. This is done to give students more exposure to the variety of projects a working graphic designer may face.
