2. Abstract
The use of green energy is becoming increasingly more important in todays world.
Therefore, electric vehicles are currently the best choice for the environment in terms
of public and personal transportation. Unfortunately, lithium-ion batteries can be
dangerous if they are not operated within their Safety Operation Area (SOA).
Therefore, a battery management system (BMS) must be used in every lithium-ion
battery, especially for those used in electric vehicles. The integrated modules to the
Microcontroller are temperature sensor, Battery packs along with relays, Charger, DC
Fan and LCD Module. When any of the battery pack get drained, that battery pack get
charged from the charger through relay and the voltage values of each battery pack data
is displayed on LCD module as well as it displays the temperature continuously. If the
temperature value crosses the set limit then PIC microcontroller active the buzzer for
alerts and switch on the cooling states for battery protection. This system monitoring
cells states, at a particular point in time, is often needed in battery development in order
to optimize their use. State-of-health (SoH) and State-of-Charge (SoC) are key quality
indicators as they provide very useful data needed for the optimization of the Battery
Management System (BMS)
3. Introduction
lithium-ion batteries are popular for a number of applications including electric vehicles
and energy storage system because of their high power density low safety charge and
relatively low cost however individual battery cells alone cannot provide enough power to
Operate say a whole energy storage system or support an electric power grid so what we do
is we combine many cells Together in series and parallels to create a Module and then
connect many modules together to create the pack at pack level lithium ion battery
performance becomes difficult to manage because the cell can get charged and discharge at
varying rate and can be operating at different condition due to their different operational
state in terms of temperature safe charge and stable health
9. Operation
The battery management system (BMS) must be used in every lithium-ion
battery, especially for those used in electric vehicles. The integrated modules
to the Microcontroller are temperature sensor, Battery packs along with relays,
Charger, DC Fan and LCD Module. When any of the battery pack get drained,
that battery pack get charged from the charger through relay and the voltage
values of each battery pack data is displayed on LCD module as well as it
displays the temperature continuously. If the temperature value crosses the set
limit then PIC microcontroller active the buzzer for alerts and switch on the
cooling states for battery protection. This system monitoring cells states, at a
particular point in time, is often needed in battery development in order to
optimize their use. State-of-health (SoH) and State-of-Charge (SoC) are key
quality indicators as they provide very useful data needed for the optimization
of the Battery Management System (BMS)
10. Advantages
• Improve safety by reducing the need for physical contact with the
battery bank.
• 24/7 alarm notifications allow you or your service team to respond
quickly to potential battery issues.
• Reduce maintenance and replacement costs by monitoring and
performing preventative maintenance.
