PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Executive Vice President for Advancement
James Madison’s Montpelier, Orange, Virginia
May 2013-September 2015
▪ Worked closely with the Foundation President and CEO, the Board of Directors, and senior staff to
collaboratively determine strategic priorities and secure the financial resources required to achieve
Montpelier’s goals;
▪ Managed and mentor a team of 12 professionals;
▪ Primary staff lead for all fundraising and communications initiatives
o Fiscal Year 2015 resulted in second most successful fundraising year in Montpelier history with
more than $19 million in new commitments, including a $10 million gift from David M. Rubenstein
and doubling annual fund support;
o Led staff recruitment effort to successfully build a strong professional team of development and
communication professionals
o Led organization-wide branding initiative with an international public relations firm
o Directed Montpelier’s marketing and promotions program to increase visitation and special events
participation

Legacy Campaign, a $60 million capital campaign initiated in 2003 with a $20 million gift from the Estate of
Paul Mellon (exceeded its goal by 7% with $64.5 million in total commitments);
▪ Managed all planned giving programs and promotional efforts;
▪ Managed the board development committee and all other volunteer fundraising efforts;

respective committees;
▪ Managed the identification, solicitation, and stewardship programs for all individual, foundation and corporate
prospects and donors, including trustee giving;
▪ Increased annual giving by 25 percent, growing contributions from $1.1 million to $1.5 million;
