FACTORS THAT LEAD TO GROUP DYSFUNCTIONALITY-
Gursimran Singh
FACTORS THAT LEAD TO GROUP DYSFUNCTIONALITY-
When I was in Grade 12, I was on a sports management
team. Our team was of 8 members with one group leader
from us.
But, I was unproductive in that. Also, the group proves
to be dysfunctional.
I shared this incident with my group, and
factors which me and my group agrees that contributed
to the group dysfunctioning in Grade 12 are-
1. Conflict fear-
Every group member always remains quiet in the group
discussion because the leader of my team never listens to
anyone. And if anyone says anything he always say us to
remain silent.
Gursimran Singh
Factors that lead to group dysfunctionality (Cont.)
2. Lack of trust-
My group member never shares anything with me
because they think that I will leak confidential
information to other groups in which my friends
work.
3. Distraction about outcomes-
The kingpin of my group was never able to suffice in
making us to focus towards the team goals. And takes
half of the time showing his ego.
4. Accountability avoidance-
My group leader was rigid and wants to keep everything
in his control without making anyone accountable.
Gursimran Singh

Editor's Notes

  1. Factors that lead to group dysfunctionality- When I was in Grade 12, I was on a sports management team. Our team was of 8 members with one group leader from us.But, I delineate that my group work of mine unproductive. And the group proves to be dysfunctional. No one was not able to concentrate and complete the work assigned.   I shared this incident with my group, and factors which me and my group agrees that contributed to the group dysfunctioning in Grade 12 are-   1. Conflict fear- Every group member always remains quiet in the group discussion because the leader of my team never listens to anyone. And if anyone says anything he always say us to remain silent.
  2. 2. Lack of trust- My group member never shares anything with me because they think that I will leak confidential information to other groups in which my friends work. In this, the leader fails to create a collaborative and trustful environment among the group members. 3. Distraction about outcomes- The kingpin of my group was never able to suffice in making me focus on the team goals. Because he was busy with himself and takes half of the time showing his ego. 4. Accountability avoidance- My group leader was rigid and wants to keep everything in his control without making anyone accountable. He never makes anyone understand the actual objective of the team. 5. Shortfall to prioritize commitment- While working in a group it always becomes difficult to reach any decision. Like, deciding on practice time for different sports. This leads to paucity in sincerity.
