Rod currently serves on the Board of Partners Bank of California and is a recent Board member of The Mission
Hospital Foundation. He has served on the Boards of THINK Together, the American Electronics Association,
and the Orange Coast Venture Group. He resides in Laguna Niguel, California, with his wife Laura, their four
children, and three dogs. His passions include flying airplanes, which heâs able to use in the growth pursuits of
M+B and M+B Interim Leaders, as well as skiing and traveling to new and interesting places.
Rod received a Bachelorâs in economics and business from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Jason Levi Pinegar serves as a Principal Consultant for McDermott + Bull and helps
his clients by attracting and securing game changing leadership talent to their
executive teams. He specializes in ensuring close alignment with an organizationâs
unique mission, values, and culture. Jason brings valuable knowledge and
competence as an accomplished business management consultant, with prominence
in leadership development and managing organizational change. His broad academic
foundation and applied experience within multiple industries, including developing,
evaluating, and improving people and performance, allows Jason to work intimately and effectively with his

clients. His ultimate goal is to understand what makes people and organizations âtickâ so that he can
thoughtfully and strategically recruit high-quality talent for his clients while enriching and inspiring others
through his work as an executive search consultant.
Prior to joining the firm, Jason served as a Management Consultant with Skulpt Consulting, Groves Consulting,
and the Claremont Evaluation Center, where he served a variety of public, private, and nonprofit organizations
throughout the United States.
Jason is very active within the Orange County and Inland Empire business and philanthropic communities. He
serves as a member of the Board of Directors and Strategic Development Committee for Parentis Foundation
/ Experience Corps OC, whose mission is to guide the next generation of readers and mentor future leaders. He
is an advocate and former committee member of DifferenceMakersOC, which strives to create significant
relationships among Orange County professionals who seek a balance between business success and âmaking
a differenceâ by participating in nonprofit and charitable causes. He also contributes as a chapter leader for
Pepperdineâs OC Waves alumni association.
He graduated with an MBA in leadership and managing organizational change from Pepperdine University, an
MA in policy and program evaluation from Claremont Graduate University, and a BA in psychology/sociology
from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Jeff Black serves as a Partner for McDermott + Bull. His retained search practice,
named âThe Fit Practice,â focuses on helping companies realize an ideal fit between
executive talent and their culture and values. Jeffâs clients include many culturally rich
and socially responsible companies, including: Golden State Foods, Honda
Center/Anaheim Ducks, Panda Restaurant Group, Oakwood Worldwide, BJâs
Restaurants, LA BioMed, Niagara Bottling, Santa Monica Seafood, Orange County
United Way, Orange County Goodwill, Kingâs Hawaiian, Sunworks, PRIDE Industries,
and Scooterâs Coffee. Prior to joining McDermott + Bull, Jeff served as Vice President of Commercial Services
for Raytheon Technical Services Company, a $2B global services subsidiary of the Raytheon Company, and a
leading manufacturer of aerospace, defense, and information systems products.

Jeffâs purpose in his personal support of the nonprofit community is to mobilize increased volunteerism among
Orange County professionals to serve nonprofit and charitable organizations. He serves on the Board of
Directors of OneOC, is a founding member of the Board of Advisors for the Institute for Community Impact and
was Co-Founder of DifferenceMakersOC.
Jeff is married with two adult children and resides in Yorba Linda, California. He received a BS in business
management and an MBA in finance, both from California State University, Fullerton.
Denae Bluethmann serves as the Vice President of Recruiting + Development where
she co-leads McDermott + Bullâs internal recruiting and research team and is
responsible for helping the firm grow into new markets. Denae joined McDermott +
Bull in 2001 as a Senior Recruiter and the firmâs 1st employee! In 2002, she became
Director of the McDermott + Bull Executive Network and established programs to
help connect senior executives to their peers and the firm. Passionate about
coaching, Denae founded Executive Career Group in order to guide senior executives
through difficult career transitions in 2010. During this time, she also supported Arrow Electronics, a Fortune
120 technology company, with talent acquisition projects and recruiting their critical Director & VP-level talent.
Denae started her career as a Recruiting Associate at DHR International, supporting clients like D-Link, Toyota
Motor Financial Services, Gateway, and Bell Labs. She also served as Recruiting Manager for Resources Global
Professionals, a spin-off from Deloitte & Touche.
Denae received a BA in communication from the University of Colorado at Boulder and her MBA from the
University of Colorado at Denver.

ENGAGEMENT DETAILS
The objective of our search engagement is to provide a robust level of service, maximum client partnership,
and organization incentive to fill the position and successfully socialize the new hire. Our services include all
efforts necessary to support our clientâs acquisition of the right leader, including sourcing, recruiting,
interviewing, assisting with negotiations, and performing reference checks.
Fee Amount: One-third of first yearâs anticipated cash compensation (base salary plus cash bonus).
Performance-Based Retained Fee Model: Many retained search firms invoice their clients based on a fixed
number of calendar days that pass following start of the search; our firm invoices based on key milestones
accomplished. This aligns us with our clientsâ objective of an exceptional executive starting as quickly as
possible.
âȘ The first payment is one-third of the fee amount, as a non-refundable retainer, due upon initiation of
search.
âȘ The second payment is one-third of projected fee billed after three candidates have completed a client
interview.
âȘ Final balance is not billed until the successful candidate accepts your offer.
âȘ If client cancels the search within thirty (30) days, we will forward a statement for our prorated expenses
related to the search. If client cancels the search after thirty (30) days, a final statement will be sent for
an amount equal to the difference between the total estimated fee and the fees previously paid, as well
as our prorated expenses related to the search.
Expenses: Flat monthly administrative expensesâmany retained search firms invoice as much as 12% of the
total placement fee for monthly administrative costs; our firm caps monthly administrative expenses at $1,300.
Other expenses for candidate or consultant travel, position marketing/posting costs, or other items including
background checks and use of candidate personality/style assessment tools will be billed as incurred with no
markup; we will secure client approval prior to incurring these expenses.
Performance Guarantee: Our firm offers a one-year unconditional guarantee. If a candidate separates for any
reason, within one year of hire, we will conduct a replacement search at no fee.
