“Taking the lead: progression in an ever-changing
environment”
In the competitive world of digitalisation, female leaders face a
plethora of obstacles and barriers on their journey to success.
Regardless of these, there are many avenues available for
progression and advancement that empower women to
develop their leadership style and solutions. Creating the
right environments, programs and policies can support
women in pursuing their dreams. Google believe in removing
barriers for women, so they can focus on the work (and
people) they love. Technology solutions that enable greater
flexibility, collaboration and better ways of working will be key
to attracting and retaining top talent, and remove potential
barriers to progression and advancement by creating the right
environment to showcase their skills. Renee will discuss:
• Maximising skills and demonstrating talents in an
organisation
• Taking constructive criticism in your stride
• Seeking out progression opportunities
• How technology can be an enabler of progression in an

In the ever-changing digital environment, the road to
leadership is layered with obstacles and barriers. As a
result, it is of the utmost importance that aspiring leaders
use all available resources to advance their career. Jamila

major organisations including Qantas, Leighton Holdings
(now CIMIC) and IBM, and understands the value of mentors,
sponsors and networking. She will discuss:

your own knowledge is of the utmost importance. Leanne has
climbed the executive ladder with precision. She will explore:

“Navigating unconscious bias and other potential
barriers to career advancement”
In the male-dominated digital industry, a lack of diversity in
leadership roles is far from foreign. There is no doubt that
men continue to outweigh women in executive positions, so
it is important to ensure that opportunities for progression
are available to people who offer the most talent, regardless
of their gender. Despite the implementation of strategies
to increase the number of women in senior roles, various
unconscious biases, both internally and externally, tend to
restrict women from taking a step up the career ladder. This
panel session will discuss:
• The negative effect of bias on productivity
• Cutting through unconscious bias
• Recognising genuine talent

ABOUT THE EVENT
Due to the rapid rate of growth in the digital world, being a leader in this
environment presents an array of unpredictable challenges. Knowledge
and experience provide a great foundation for digital career progression,
but in order to lead we need to be prepared with the leadership tool kit
suited to our business context. A finely-tuned set of skills that allow a
leader to communicate effectively, influence change and employ strategies
for team advancement will ensure success in a digital environment.
Leaders in the digital space must be prepared for the barriers they may
face, and have a strong grasp of the strategies and techniques they can
put in place to overcome these challenges. With the implementation of
positive motivation, a successful communication plan, and an authentic
leadership approach, you can excel as a digital leader.
Despite an increasing number of roles in digital and a large number of
these being held by women, the majority of women occupy less senior
technology roles. There is no doubt that men continue to outweigh women
in digital leadership and management roles. However, as the digital role
continues to emerge as an integral part of any organisation the opportunity
to lead is becoming more accessible, and women need to develop their
capacity as leaders to ensure their candidacy for executive positions.
The Women in Digital Leadership Summit 2016 is the opportunity
for existing and emerging leaders to take hold of their leadership goals.
This unique forum will be an opportunity to learn from the experience of
successful executive women through their inspirational career stories and
leadership insights. Both technical and leadership skills will be addressed
and participants will leave the conference equipped with ideas and
strategies to effectively lead in the digital world. Register team members
early to secure places at this outstanding event!

Knowledge and experience provide a great foundation for digital career progression, but in order to lead we need to be prepared with the leadership tool kit suited to our business context. A finely-tuned set of skills that allow a leader to communicate effectively, influence change and employ strategies for team advancement will ensure success in a digital environment. Leaders in the digital space must be prepared for the barriers they may face, and have a strong grasp of the strategies and techniques they can put in place to overcome these challenges. With the implementation of positive motivation, a successful communication plan, and an authentic leadership approach, you can excel as a digital leader. Despite an increasing number of roles in digital and a large number of these being held by women, the majority of women occupy less senior technology roles. There is no doubt that men continue to outweigh women in digital leadership and management roles. However, as the digital role continues to emerge as an integral part of any organisation the opportunity to lead is becoming more accessible, and women need to develop their capacity as leaders to ensure their candidacy for executive positions. The Women in Digital Leadership Summit 2016 is the opportunity for existing and emerging leaders to take hold of their leadership goals. This unique forum will be an opportunity to learn from the experience of successful executive women through their inspirational career stories and leadership insights. Both technical and leadership skills will be addressed and participants will leave the conference equipped with ideas and strategies to effectively lead in the digital world. Register team members early to secure places at this outstanding event!
