Adult Matric is one of the Matric Courses we offer at Matric College. This course allows adults to study towards and get their Matric if they did not have the chance to complete it when they were still a school-going age.

1. Adult Matric Registration

Once you complete the
course, we will help you
register for your exam with
the Department of Basic
Education.
2. Admission to the Senior
Certificate
Adult learners who are 21 years and older who have:
a General Education and Training Certificate (GETC); or
a Grade 9 school report (or the old standard seven).
stating that they have passed Grade 9 or Standard 7; or
a recognised equivalent qualification obtained at NQF
Level which requires two official languages.
Adult learners who are 21 years and older with an incomplete
Senior Certificate qualification.
Adult learners who are 21 years and older with an incomplete
National Senior Certificate
Only in exceptional cases, out of school youth, who are 18-21
years old and who could not complete their school education
due to circumstances beyond their control, as verified by the
Head of Department in the Provincial Education Department.

4. What Subjects Can I Do As An
Adult In Matric?
You can choose up to (6) six subjects to add to your Adult Matric
Certificate. They are:
(2) two languages:
1 Home Language
1 First Additional Language
(1) One Mathematics subject:
Mathematics
Mathematics Literacy
Any other (3) three subjects
5. Can I Do Adult Matric In 3 Months?
No, you cannot complete your Matric in 3 months.
The recommended time to complete an Adult Matric
Course is 12 to 24 months.
When doing the course over a longer period, you will
have more time to prepare and familiarise yourself
with your work and practice using Matric Past
Papers.
6. Pass requirements
Pass three subjects at 40%, one of which must
be an official language at Home Language
level.
Pass two subjects at 30%, one of which must be
an official language at First Additional or Home
Language level.
Obtain a subminimum of 20% in the sixth
subject.
