Improving Markhouse Corner part of the Lea Bridge Area Framework

We are still exploring funding opportunities to be able to implement these ideas
Introduction
You’ve asked us to make improvements to spaces in and around
Markhouse Corner and we want to know what you think about our
early design suggestions.
Waltham Forest Council has commissioned a design
team to come up with some early ideas on how
we could improve some of the spaces around the
junction of Markhouse Road, Church Road and
Lea Bridge Road locally known by residents and
businesses as Markhouse Corner.
As part of feedback on the Lea Bridge Area
Framework you told us you’d like to see
improvements to the Markhouse Corner area as
well as things like more planting, community
greening projects, public art and support for local
businesses in Lea Bridge.
We have reviewed these responses alongside other
engagement on Markhouse Corner carried out in
previous years. We’ve used all of the feedback to
date to come up with some early design ideas and
are now seeking your views to help us shape the
potential improvements.
We are funding this project in phases. Whilst
funding is not currently available to implement all
the ideas, your feedback will help us shape the final
designs which will support and inform future funding
opportunities.
Any additional feedback can be
emailed to the team at:
leabridgearea@walthamforest.gov.uk
Come to talk to members of the team
at our drop-in events:
Saturday 16 July, 12pm to 3pm

As part of feedback on the Lea Bridge Area Framework you also told us you were
interested in opportunities for public art in Markhouse Corner.
We hope to have a more detailed public engagement on this later in the year. To
kick-start this process we are collecting memories and stories that help uncover what
makes this area special for local people. This will help us start to shape a project for
an artist to work with the local community on.
Engagement on public art
Keep up to date with this project
We also want to hear from you if you are interested in being involved in planting or
community greening projects in Markhouse Corner in the future.
You can find out more about project progress and sign up for updates by visiting our
dedicated engagement portal at: talk.walthamforest.gov.uk/markhousecorner
