● Status: complete
● Objective: to produce a pleasant floral display
and at the same time to inform people about
the problem of pollinators and the environment.
● Key achievements:
a. Visual impact in the centre of town
b. Educational information to the public
c. A great photo spot to promote Killorglin
4. Summer Planting
● Status: complete
● Objective: to present the town in the best possible
way for tourists and residents.
● Key achievements:
a. All approach roads addressed: Tralee rd,
Killarney rd, Glenbeigh rd, Annadale rd.
b. Key places: Goat statue, Bridge, Aldi towers, Teak
Boxes around town. etc.
c. Where possible bee friendly and perennial plants
have been used. Perennial plants are used to
save on long term costs to the town.
d. Kept flowers alive despite nationwide drought.

6. The Cairt Uisce and Water Butt campaign
● Status: in progress
● Objective: to water planters around town using rain
water and river water (where possible)
● Key achievements:
a. 1st water butt installed at the fruit and veg stand in
the Fairfield. In view of the recent weather crisis,
this will be very important to expand in the future.
b. Public awareness of harvesting rain water.
c. Today 1 person can water the baskets on the bridge
without causing much delay. In the past it took a car
and trailer with 4 or 5 people. It also held traffic up.

8. Conscious Cup Campaign
● Status: in progress
● Objective: To approach cafes and restaurants to
join the campaign to reduce the use of single use
cups - 200 million in Ireland.
● Key achievements:
a. Liaised with Astellas and the Brand Geeks
with final design. Killorglin theme.
b. This campaign will be done in conjunction
with encouragement to consider changing
from plastic to paper straws.
10. Eco spray campaign
● Status: in progress
● Objective: to reduce weeds but in a
environmental way. There has been great
interest by the public during use.
● Key achievements:
a. The trial has worked and proved efficient.
b. Great interest from the public.
c. To date around 70/80 litres of vinegar has
been used.
