2. Pharmaceutical Marketing
Pharmaceutical marketing involves all of the
promotional activities carried out by an
organisation to make pharmaceutical
products and care a reality, and available to
customers (patients and other decision
makers) from the manufacturer.
3. Marketing survey
Market survey is the survey research and analysis of
the market for a particular product/service which
includes the investigation into customer inclinations.
The main goal and objective of a market survey are
to collect data surrounding a target market such as
competitor analysis, pricing trends, and customer
expectations.
4. Online marketing survey of various Domperidone
tablets
Social media is a hot topic these days. There is no doubt
that collecting information from disease and product
conversations on social media sites helps
pharmaceutical companies develop more impactful
meanings and marketing tactics.
This survey is an attempt to understand how
pharmaceutical companies and their agencies are using
social media listening programmes as part of their
marketing and communications program.
6. Drug Profile
Domperidone
Domperidone is a dopamine antagonist that does not readily enter
the central nervous system. Given parenterally or orally it
increases gastric emptying of liquids and increases lower
oesophageal sphincter pressure in healthy subjects. The
antiemetic and pharmacodynamic profile of domperidone is
similar to that of metoclopramide, although domperidone has a
lower propensity to cause extrapyramidal side effects.
Domperidone effectively alleviates symptoms of chronic
postprandial dyspepsia and nausea and vomiting due to a wide
variety of underlying causes and in some studies has been
superior to metoclopramide.
7. Chemistry of Domperidone
Domperidone is benzimidazole derivative and is structurally
related to butyrophenone neurolepitcs like haloperidol.
Molecular formula is C22H24ClN5O2
Its molecular weight is 425.9
IUPAC Name is 6-chloro-3-[1-[3-(2-oxo-3H-benzimidazol-
1-yl)propyl]piperidin-4-yl]-1H-benzimidazol-2-one
8. Experimental Work
General appearance
The parameter like shape, colour, odour, and surface
texture were studied by visual identification while
thickness and diameter were measured using Vernier
Calliper.
Sample Thickness(mm)
Mean ± SD
Diameter(mm)
Mean ± SD
Shape Colour Odour Surface texture
A 6.29±0.31 2.96±1.48 Rounded Yellow Odourless Smooth
B 2.7±0.137 6.511±0.325 Rounded Yellow Odourless Smooth
C 2.714±0.135 6.6±0.33 Rounded Yellow Odourless Smooth
D 3.809±0.19045 7.948±0.397 Rounded Yellow Odourless smooth
15. Friability testing
Friability of 20 mouth dissolving tablets were determined using Roche Friabilator and friability
of mouth dissolving tablets was determined by using formula:
Percentage friability=D1-D2/D1*100
Where D1=Tablets weight before testing
D2=Tablets weight after testing
Sample Initial weight
(gm)
Final weight (gm) Wᵇ - Wᵃ (gm) % Friability
A 2.4795 2.224 0.255 0.103
B 2.3010 2.142 0.159 0.742
C 2.494 2.489 0.005 0.204
D 2.4914 2.487 0.0044 0.176
All four brands of Domperidone tablets have passed the friability test and have meet the specification of IP which specifies that the
friability study must not lose 1% of their initial weight.
17. Disintegration test
All the four brands of Domperidone tablets have a disintegration
time that is within the acceptable range and have met the
specification of IP where a majority of tablets have a maximum
disintegration time was found to be within 30 minutes.
