Activity sheet 2: prompts for analysis
In your group of four, produce an analysis of your consumption diaries as a presentation
that you can share with the class. You should include:
quantitative findings (numerical data, e.g. pie charts or bar graphs)
qualitative findings (observations that cannot be recorded numerically such as
observations on the different contexts in which media is consumed, e.g. ‘With the
exception of when she was with her family, one girl, aged 15, only used her tablet to
consume media’.
Use the table below to analyse the following categories by age, gender, and ethnicity*.
Total duration of media consumption
24 Hour
Sectors of media consumed
Instagram, YouTube, Sky Sports, BBC 1, FL Studio, Music production, Video Editing,
Soundcloud, Snapchat , Twitter , BeatStars
How the media is consumed, e.g. tablet, TV
Phone , TV , Laptop
Balance between media being consumed individually, with family, with friends
Mainly Alone, but sometimes with family. I mainly talk to my family away from media
